I love the passion that Tommy brings in this particular style. It truly shows as he explains everything in a very easy to understand way. This video is also perfectly times as I am getting ready to set up two new nano tanks and have been leaning towards the Iwagumi style. Thanks again for all that you do!

Yeah that was cool, and interesting too. I wish to get more lessons like that (dark water aquariums, complex landscapes, etc). Seeing a great contestant doing that is not the same as getting explanations like yours.

Good work! Just a heads-up: some captions in “The Purpose of the Stones” are incorrect in Japanese Kanji. In Japanese, “Oyaishi” is written as “親石,” and “Fukuishi” is “副石.” Anyway, this video was very informative in helping me understand the history of Iwagumi style! Really looking forward to your next videos🎉 From 🇯🇵

Awesome video! I have to say, old school Iwagumi to me is superior or modern Iwagumi and Iwagumi offshots. It just looks better because its simpler. Imo the core concepts of Iwagumi do not translate that well into the modern styles, they are cluttered and borderline dioramas, and the Iwagumi essence might be there but its distilled.

Wonderful video... The "flow" subject is something I still don't get it (or see it, or feel it, I don't know)... I remember the explanation you got from an ADA member about the flow of a Iwagumi getting interrupt by an imaginary stone that Dave Chow thought it need it... Anyway, still much to learn I guess.

Hey! I would like to ask you about some problem. I saw you have shrimps in your tank and the water level was almost to the end of the glass. I bought some Amano shrimps today and within an 2 hours, 2 shrimp jumped out of the tank, but I managed to save them. Did you also have a problem with shrimps jumping out? I poured some water out of the tank and I have 5 cm between the water and the end of the glass. Maybe it will help.

Do you have any tips for maintenance for an iwagumi style tank? I set up a scape that’s more Brazilian but not enough plants to call it that and I’m battling green algae on the rocks and glass. It’s not the worst but when will it be balanced? Too much light and my rocks are green but not enough the plants aren’t the happiest

I wonder if there's some sort of debate between "conservatives" who advocate for the.... preservation of traditional form of Iwagumi, and "progressives" who support the continual evolution of the style.
