Joe Louis was great at barely moving and being accurate. Sometimes he looked like an old man barely shuffling his feet around but he was making precise micro mov.

Great video. The line about not looking at how big your bicep is hits home. In life it's so easy to focus on things that feel good but don't really matter.

These little things are what you need to police yourself on. I was falling off balance after throwing my backhand which put me off balance for any following shots and I couldn’t figure out why. I watched a video back of me on the pads and noticed my lead foot was pointing forwards after I’d thrown my backhand. I started with front foot at 45 degrees but it moved back into its natural position. I’ve fixed it now and my balance is a lot better

I have always fought off my back foot and coach that way as well. If your butt is out and slightly in front of your back foot you won't fall all over yourself when throwing combinations or any rear twisting movement

Good. Always nice to make an adjustment like that and feel an immediate benefit 👍

@@myboxingcoach it was stopping my combos dead. It’s amazing what a slight adjustment can do

new gym work looks done, the extra space makes a big difference. often, it's not so much a lack of equipment, it's a lack of space.
@myboxingcoach7 ай бұрын
100% Ben. The extra space is incredible, we've crammed the bags into a quite a small area and opened up the whole place. Still work to but we're getting very close now 👍

It's been a while since I caught one of your videos. You always do a great job presenting the information in a way that's easy to understand. If I lived on your side of the pond, I'd surely want to train at your gym. Keep up the good work!

VALUABLE. Mr. Sands sent me this diagram in an email. I was wondering: HOW do I use this?! My measurements are a little off, but not so much to ruin anything. Memory from this video should fix it. Thanks for uploading this video. What I did was, I hang my punching bag in my living room and take it down when finished (don't want my living room looking like a gym, and the thing blocks entrance into the dining room.) Its a 40lb for a starter until I figure out how to either get room for a full size or eventually just use a gym for theirs after time. I bought a transparent floor runner (carpet runner) and used red ductape for the diagram. Runners even have 'grips' or tiny spikes to stay in place, so it stays in place with movement. I just lay it down in front of my bag when I practice. Actually, I even leave the runner in front of my door inside as the intended purpose for the runner. It looks cool and gets questions from guests. Just thought I'd share for those with limited space who have to make things work.

What a brilliant bit of improvisation Toni. Excellent that. Once had a guy who laid the pattern out under their rug, again, inventive :-) Very glad you are enjoying the work pal 👍

Sorry for going of topic but are those rubber matts easy to pivot on for people wear normal sneakers, im looking for a new flooor in my gym and have no experiance with rubber matts.
@myboxingcoach7 ай бұрын
They are ideal coach. 30mm thick and pretty solid. In a bigger space you only have to use adhesive on one row and the others can be laid adhesive free. But yes, very good for boxing training 👍

I like alot of V steps & L steps into lateral movement when i shadow box; usually favoring my coordination but during sparring, fighting or bag work conserve movemement But i know what you mean about new guys scuttling about. Its hard to try & convince them that you cant do 30 minutes of short awkward pendlum steps once you get to the fighting stage

Yes, definitely good to vary the angles of entry and exit...and change the height of the head in with it 👍
