@@bobbyrebholz2183 l have been drawing my hole life but just recently got into it seriously maybe if I could figure out a way to send you a picture or two there could be a way to communicate with each other you seem to figure out your art on paper I look at some of my caotic scribbles and see monster faces

One of the things that delights me the most about art is that we can have the same prompt, but end up with completely different things. Even to the point of your thumbnails. You were describing some things you saw and I didn't see it at all, I was seeing something entirely different. Then as you were refining, I was still so stuck on what I had seen, that I just didn't see your creature for who they were until they popped out all at once. Very fun video to watch, thank you!

I always learn something, or at least am inspired, when I watch these "beginner" tutorials. I'm a veteran concept artist, and can confirm, this is the mindset. However, each artist's approach varies, and that's the magic for me- seeing how someone who's like-brained executes ideas. It immediately translated into some great thumbnails I'm working on this morning. Cheers!

I'm just gonna say that your thumbnails method is so liberating... It frees you from perfection and let you just draw whatever comes to your mind... I love this way of creating creatures and characters and I added it to my sketchbook exercises and I love the characters and creatures that I come up with... It's funny how you say this is for concept/creature art, but I find this fun to do for my character sketches. Using pencil and ballpoint and the scribbling method here is tons of fun and helps me finalize an idea when needed.

Very cool! Something that I’ve ALWAYS struggled with, is integrating an object into a character. For example stepping onto something like a rock, holding/grasping something like a sword or branch. Is this something you can address in a future video? Thanks again Bobby🦶

what level of refinement do companies expect from thumbnail sketches? I assume its more than searching lines right? I have been trying too look around for the answer to this question for awhile and there is never anything concrete, I have been told I spend waaay too much time on my initial thumnailing phase and I just don't know how to hit that sweet spot

They don't care about thumbnail refinement. They just care about how you get to a final solution. The thumbnails are there just for ideas.

No. Thumbnails can be scribbles and any rough drawing to get the initial idea out.
