I'm a Certified Sommelier since 1996. Aroma and flavor are a world to me. I started to explore Scotch Whisky in January 2019 and was convinced to avoid Peat till February 2020 then I took the long way around to Islay then late 2021 my first bottle of Corryvreckan! The very first nose brought to mind a hot summer day at the beach and a dessicated fish body baking in the Sun, the second nose Peaches, the 3rd nose a bonfire smoke and the 4th Honey! I've been in Love ever since! I have Octomore, Laphroaig 10yr CS, Lagavulin 12 yr CS and NOTHING can touch Corryvreckan for Complexity and punch! IMHO it is the Pinnicle of Islay Scotch Whisky perhaps of All Scotch Whisky! Enjoy!

I want to try the Octomore really bad, but it is both rare in these parts and very expensive, $100 or more than the Corryvreckan (which I have had and love). I think a head to head comparison between them is in order, too.

Love the passion and the eloquent way Brendan portraits this in his own words. Anyone that loves a whisky, beer, art or food knows exactly what he is saying 👍

I hardly knew there was Ardbeg and that it was on Islay - even though many years ago I had decided to drink Islay whiskies only. They seemed the best to me. Which stroke of luck made me taste Ardbeg Corryvreckan? It was by chance! It was an epiphany! Why did I ever drink any other whiskies? So this amazing gentleman above, Brendan McCarron, puts it all into measured language and does not mention anything that has not absolutely to be said. I even bought a book about Ardbeg, I'm a fan. I never imagined I could become a fan of a distillery. I have to figure out a way to convince my wife that we absolutely have to visit Ardbeg. God of whisky, I hope you inspire and help me! Boys and Girls there on Islay, you really know what you are doing and I hope there will be many generations coming to enjoy your very fine whiskies.

I am on my third bottle of Corryvreckan...My absolute favorite!!!

for a long time my favourite was Lagavulin 16yo before I suddenly discovered Uigeadail and soon then also Corryvreckan. I still do love Lagavulin sometimes but these two Ardbegs are realy exceptional.

I've been buying different bottles of single malts over the past few years, promising myself to never buy the same bottle twice, and the Corry was the first bottle I've went out of my way to buy a second bottle for.

My favorite whisky of all time. It’s like sucking the caramel off a seawater-soaked piece of burnt driftwood next to a wild berry hedge. Sublime!

The Ardbeg tour is great and my favorite ........ also Laphroaig and Lagavulin.......stay in Port Allen and you can quite easily walk to all 3 just not in the same day..... could get quite messy...

Absoluta, definitiva y equilibradamente delicioso. Si hubiera palabras, la conclusión sería el sin sentido de la prueba.

Looking to buy my first Ardbeg now. Thinking Corryvreckan or Uigeadail!

Which one did you try? I would try the 10 and An Oa first, and compare the two to each other. Then try Uige and CorryVr, but maybe not on the same night. For me, there are two tiers, or two classes of Ardbeg- the 10 and An Oa, and then Uige and Corry. Which one is the best? Depends on the day/night and what you’re in the mood for.

..... This whisky dude reminds me of "Spud" in the **still-brilliant** film Trainspotting. That scene in the leisure centre - when he gets forced to go to a job interview via the D.S.S, being a long term dosser/"bagheed". Speeding his tits off : - talking absolute fragmented nothingness due to the "Crank"...... Just Sayin' (??!). Also, getting a "jockanese" version of Charles Shaar Murray - the music critic, coming through??. Opinions On A Postcard Please..... Seriously though, I've bought a bottle of this for my old man turning 80 tomorrow = Being a "peat-head" dram man : I'm sure he'll love it. **Beautiful Whisky Ardbeg**, the TCP factor in it alone for me being a definite highlight.....!! : - Cheers.

Here was the perfect opportunity for an expert to tell us how much a "splash" is, and he didn't do it. I find it hard to believe there isn't an optimal ratio of water to whisky to get the best out of Corrywreckan in the considered opinion of the one man in the world who would be best positioned to say. So what is it?
