I have never gone from not knowing a band to absolutely adoring a band so quickly as with Loathe. I cannot get enough of this album.

Judging by my recent spotify usage I'm going to have to say I'm in a similar boat there.

@@hyabusa1 the day after I heard heavy is the head, I made the right choice to check out the entire album and I had a hard time picking a favorite song in the end because of just how blown away I was, although if I HAD to pick, honestly Broken Vision Rhythm has an incredible riff that imo is very underrated

I'm *OBSESSED* with learning their parts on guitar. Like I fucking sold my baritone right as I discovered this album in late Dec 2020, now I have to save up again because my bass just isn't cutting it. Debating between getting the Gretsch or Subzero Rogue. Anyways can't wait to see them in April

The fact that an album can be so heavy, quiet, dreamy, suspenseful, and raw makes this one of my all time favorites. This album is going to hold up for decades.
@jade-ne1qd3 жыл бұрын
kadeem does the screaming & the bridge on aggressive evolution, rest of the cleans are erik kadeem & erik do the vocals on two-way mirror screaming is mostly kadeem, with erik doing the small whispery bit erik does most of is it really you, with kadeem doing the big chorus thats about as much as i know with the two vocalists parts in songs where its questionable, love this album to absolute death

Kadeem does the chorus for Is It Really You? Damn, my boy has insane range.

Like, as soon as I discovered this I knew, so matter-of-factly, that this was my favorite band. Deftones had been high up on my list, maybe not first but high up for over 10 years since I discovered Diamond Eyes when I was 14. But my heart truly lies in like, deathcore, metalcore, djent and the like. So this came out and just felt like it was made for me. Other bands high up there for me lately are Spiritbox (close 2nd), Vein, Code Orange, Greyhaven, Glass Cloud, Tallah, Darko US, Alpha Wolf, Make Them Suffer and Silent Planet. Loving modern metalcore, it's getting nice and weird.

one of my favourite albums ever made tbh!! And btw I thought they also had backing screams but I'm not sure. I've seen a video of them playing gored live and there were also screams by the guitarist. I really like how they switch the soft but also harsh vocals, and blend so much together..
@SeiDefinition3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that reminds me of one of my favorites, Sikth. They too had a pair of vocalists that changed hands on both screams and clean vocals. The result is always just this extremely dynamic sound that never gets old.
@jefffillion981 Жыл бұрын
late response but anyway both the singer and the now only guitarist both sing and scream. the singer is mostly screaming throughout the entire thing with some backing scream from the guitarist and the two guests vocalists

I subscribed because of your Hungry Lights album reactions, and have stuck around because of the genuinely good observation and dialogue that you provide. Whenever you do an album that I enjoy (this was my #1 of 2020 as well), I'll check out the video to see what you provide. I consistently forget that your channel is so small. This video had some great commentary that I hadn't considered but completely agree with (car crash breakdowns, the way your describe how the music makes you feel, etc), even after listening to the album 15+ times. As far as I'm concerned, you've already created your own space amidst the other reactors that I watch, and you're filling an awesome niche with dissecting full albums. Even the simple video editing to match the heavy/more emotional parts keeps me watching further and thinking "okay, but what is the screen going to do for this next part?" I feel like it's only a matter of time before more people catch on to your videos, so keep going!

Genuinely one of the nicest comments I've had the pleasure of reading. I'm glad that all of the extra effort that I put into these is paying off and being noticed, even if it's only by a few. =) I definitely do not plan on stopping, so far my only regret is that I can only crank out so many at a time! Haha. There's so much music I would love to get into and explore, as well as things not related to just reacting. In time, I hope. Thank you for sticking around, friend. Much love.

this came into my recommendations right as loathe announced that they are going to be playing this front to back on tour this winter, and i have to say you nailed it right out of the gate after the album was over. you said “what if deftones was metalcore, but they didn’t stop there”. i feel like this album is hard to get into if you don’t listen to it in its entirety, so when you look at the entire piece as a whole you see just how unique of an album it is. it’s really a one of a kind album
