The people living in what is known as Matabele state in Zimbabwe are often referred to as the Ndebele, AmaNdebele, Matabele or Northern Ndebele. They are factually distinguished from the Southern Ndebele in South Africa who speak a different language and culture. The Ndebele in Zimbabwe are the descendants of His Majesty Mzilikazi Khumalo's followers who originate in what is today known as Kwa-Zulu Natal South Africa. There are some who's ancestors originate in other parts of Southern Africa as many joined Mzilikazi in his journey but their language and cultural arrangement is identical to that of the great Zulu nation found in Natal. I may be wrong but in My opinion, it would be more historically and culturally accurate to either refer to them as Northern Zulu's or call them by another name such as the nation of Mkhwanazi in the alternative. That being said, I am fascinated by their culture and their heritage. Much love and respect to the Mkhwanazi people. Bayede!

Mugabe a Shona proved he could not rule and look at the mess today. Nkomo on his death bed said his biggest mistake was not siding with smith against Mugabes forces. The country would be different place today call it what you want but its true and everyone honest enough to admit it will agree. So sad, Oh so sad. Mzilikazi and Lobegula where friends with Rhodes, not the rebel Englishan and that is why today the Ndebele still protect their burial sites. The Shona dont care ansd use red Barrets to still hate and kill the Ndebele.

Well as an American I’m surprised to find the great king Lobengula depicted in film. I only just recently learned about the Ndebele. The king obviously cared for his people and was cheated by Rudd, Rhodes and many others. Lobengula is depicted very honorably in the history book diamonds, gold and war: the making of South Africa. @@livingfaith9189Actualy when there first account with the British many of the British translaters described him as no nonsense but Ultamely to much of a trusting king. He was pragmatic in the sense he knew he couldn't do much against the British and instead chose allieing with them and giving them rights to mine in Matabele land not realising he was being cheated by Rhodes. From the Afrikaaner translaters he was a relatively kind but no nonsense semi brutal king who valued trust amongst all else. And unlike Dingang of the Zulus he we described as a man who kept his word as respect and admiration to his father who promised the Matabele land and a Home after departing from Shakas Zulu Empire and actualy kept his word. And he was respected enough by the British they turned the cave he was buried in, sealed it off and built a memorial for him. Because those that eventually conquer re-write history to suit their own designs, and hence undermine truth, as they seek to replace that culture with their own. I, am a Cornish man of 61 years. The English took from my people our language, and replaced it with theirs. They killed and starved my people in the 1400's, they took our mineral wealth for their own.
