The people living in what is known as Matabele state in Zimbabwe are often referred to as the Ndebele, AmaNdebele, Matabele or Northern Ndebele. They are factually distinguished from the Southern Ndebele in South Africa who speak a different language and culture. The Ndebele in Zimbabwe are the descendants of His Majesty Mzilikazi Khumalo's followers who originate in what is today known as Kwa-Zulu Natal South Africa. There are some who's ancestors originate in other parts of Southern Africa as many joined Mzilikazi in his journey but their language and cultural arrangement is identical to that of the great Zulu nation found in Natal. I may be wrong but in My opinion, it would be more historically and culturally accurate to either refer to them as Northern Zulu's or call them by another name such as the nation of Mkhwanazi in the alternative. That being said, I am fascinated by their culture and their heritage. Much love and respect to the Mkhwanazi people. Bayede!

I am hearing that for the first time but I seriously doubt your definition of mahlabezulu. The word mahlabezulu means thunderstorms. Isiqalo salon leligama mahlabe means woe. Yes Ndebele people are on record addressed as mahlabezulu. Mthwakazi means beautiful. How befitting would it be that they named the new Zululand uMthwakazi

I worked in Matabeleland at Mabutweni. That is exactly why Smith decalred UDI so that the poeple of Rhodesia could all be free and one prosporous nation without England. Mugabe a Shona proved he could not rule and look at the mess today. Nkomo on his death bed said his biggest mistake was not siding with smith against Mugabes forces. The country would be different place today call it what you want but its true and everyone honest enough to admit it will agree. So sad, Oh so sad. Mzilikazi and Lobegula where friends with Rhodes, not the rebel Englishan and that is why today the Ndebele still protect their burial sites. The Shona dont care ansd use red Barrets to still hate and kill the Ndebele.

One thing hurts me the most about our kingdom is the fact that Ndebele people are so loyal and easily get carried away. We trust much in our word without knowing the other side. Here our warriors surrendered IZIKHALI to the whites ngomnali. In the same Manner, ngempi YENTUMBANE ZIPRA FORCES HAD TO SURRENDER AGAIN ngobaba UNKOMO. Kungani kwanjalo? Well as an American I’m surprised to find the great king Lobengula depicted in film. I only just recently learned about the Ndebele. The king obviously cared for his people and was cheated by Rudd, Rhodes and many others. Lobengula is depicted very honorably in the history book diamonds, gold and war: the making of South Africa. I wish I could read more about him and his times.

@@livingfaith9189Actualy when there first account with the British many of the British translaters described him as no nonsense but Ultamely to much of a trusting king. He was pragmatic in the sense he knew he couldn't do much against the British and instead chose allieing with them and giving them rights to mine in Matabele land not realising he was being cheated by Rhodes. From the Afrikaaner translaters he was a relatively kind but no nonsense semi brutal king who valued trust amongst all else. And unlike Dingang of the Zulus he we described as a man who kept his word as respect and admiration to his father who promised the Matabele land and a Home after departing from Shakas Zulu Empire and actualy kept his word. And he was respected enough by the British they turned the cave he was buried in, sealed it off and built a memorial for him. They had a falling out after Shakes 3rd campaign in the north against the swazi People. This was around the time when shaka begun to transition in to a Tyrant which was exhibated when he first met the British which filed his paranoia and in the process went from a great conquerer to a mad Autocrat. Because those that eventually conquer re-write history to suit their own designs, and hence undermine truth, as they seek to replace that culture with their own. I, am a Cornish man of 61 years. The English took from my people our language, and replaced it with theirs. They killed and starved my people in the 1400's, they took our mineral wealth for their own. We were too few to resist them for long. They were well versed in treachery and lies and cruelty before they set sail for Africa to impose their iron hand on her peoples Tina. Such were the English that the Cornish suffered under.

@@xeshandlovu8084 lmao what kind of history is that? Zimbabwean Ndebele is just a mix of isiZulu and a bit of IsiXhosa and South African Ndebele is like a mix of Zulu and Sesotho Sepedi and Setswana

The Only Fighter Where Kings are Concerned it was The Zulu King Shaka, this Ndebele King gave in too easily and defeated too easily too...Really not impressed by an army that decided to be ruled by a white man and giving him the entire land mxim

Eh baba umzilikazi helped shaka a lot with military tactics that's why u think he was fierce when mzilikazi left kzn shaka never lived for long and the zulus controlled a small portion of south africa while the ndebeles controlled all of Zimbabwe there are difference maturity is when you realize that the Ndebele are superior than zulus coz when mzilikazi left kzn he had only 1000 people but arrived with 600 000 and he fought and won a lot of battles than shaka including defeating the zulu impis sent by shaka in the transvaal (Gauteng) and i am going to tell one thing this film ain't entirely on point
