Isn't it nice to watch tv and not be reminded of about how horrible the world is? You can escape here and still feel like an adult...so much of this tv is just great to revisit. Happier times (in a general sense).

H/H match update: ... Today's action: For the third day in a row we start right off with the Super-Match! (In the final moments of yesterday's game, our two-time champion was defeated ($6,200), with Joey being the "villain" - he was the only celeb not to match when all six were needed to achieve a tie. But I guess it's all a matter of perspective, because from the new champion's point of view, Joey was the hero!) Today's audience match question: "________ Hopper" (My thoughts: Hedda, Dennis, Bar) The celebs: Richard (Grass), Brett (Hedda), and Betty (Dennis) The choice: Grass The answers: Bar, Hedda, Grass Who will our new champion chose? Richard is the safe bet. No surprises today. Richard takes pen in hand, prepared to write his winning response. He hasn't matched the last six questions in a row, which is rare, but not a record for him (his longest streak of consecutive losses is eight). Today's H/H question: "Sex _______ " (My first thought is "appeal." I'll go with that. "Symbol" would be my number two choice.) Richard takes a moment before writing and filing his response. It looks like it was several letters, at least five... The champion has an answer ready. "Pot," she says. Okay. That's a valid response. Maybe less common today than the ones I thought of, but perhaps it was a more common expression in 1976. Richard offers a list of possibilities including sex education and sex manual. He wrote "Object" which strikes me as an unlikely answer. No match today. *Richard's cumulative accuracy score now drops below Brett's again, for the tenth or so time. But I have a feeling he'll start matching again soon and retake the lead.* Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Charles - 51.0% (27 wins in 53 attempts). Betty - 50.0% (18 wins in 36 attempts). Fannie - 48.0% (12 wins in 25 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 41.3% (26 wins in 63 attempts). Richard - 41.2% (195 wins in 473 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 788, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")

Lynn Derfield was born Rosalind Jane Hirschfield...have no idea why she left GL....
@katherynemero93556 жыл бұрын
I can't find a reason why she left either. What I do find is a lot of curious coincidence. She is listed as a member of GL from 1970-1976. This episode is listed as airing in September 1976. She married Bill Beutel and the relationship ended in the end of 1975. It seems like a lot of stuff happened to her at once. Maybe she quit the business and went home-- she died in St. Louis in 2011. I wonder.....
@james54605 жыл бұрын
I am curious also. She was replaced (eventually) on GL, and the actress who replaced her became a fan favorite. Those shows operated on "who do the fans like this week" kind of deal, so maybe the fans didn't like her, though she seems really likeable (what do I know?). Her departure from GL was kind of abrupt - they had to cover for her absence by saying "she''s in the other room" for a while. It's curious that she left GL right around when this Match Game appearance first aired. It's one of those mysteries.
@sdlively275 жыл бұрын
She doesn't seem to have the thick skin needed to be in the show business but what do I know, never been actress. I just didn't realize she had been on the GL show that long before this show. Was she not a fan favorite or were a such thing back then?

You have very low comprehension. Let me explain it in baby steps for you. You see, there's common recognized difference between "civilian" and "military" life, and back when they had the draft it was often referenced how people "went back to civilian" life as a big change in their social function.
