Lovely. I owned a slightly later model with the 1500 engine. And my Sister owned an Austin 1800 which was the big brother of these. I love these cars so much. Thank you.

Really liked this one. Also appreciate the tip of polishing the wheels. I've been polishing the bases, grills and bumpers as I'm not a fan of painting them silver but hadn't thought to polish the wheels. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing your hobby.

I remember as a kid(circa1970) there was a store that had hundreds of these in their toy Dept in the box. Were cheap but as a kid I was impressed with the dog! Lol. Thank for the memories

Another rescued car. Thanks for your work. The silver metallic looked pretty good as well. Could do that as a second.

Wasn't sure I liked your choice of color until the final finished shot. Outstanding! The candy-lemon color brings out all the tones and curves of the body that the previous white paint hid. Wouldn't change a thing!

That paint job came out very nice for not having clear coat on it. Nice not to have to take off the tires and wheels.

It looks great. I love the yellow color you have. I am biased though. Yellow is my favorite color. I think painting up the interior of this car would be a fun challenge. Especially the little dog in the back.

I like that the grill and headlamps were cast with the base and man they look great in front of that shiny new paint

Very nice restore/custom, I will agree with some of the other commenters that a video showing the fail would be highly instructive. A bloopers video of sorts. Give it a thought, I'm sure your followers would like to see what can lead to fails as much as the success you have. Great video, look forward to the next. Thank you!

Didn't get a Marty's Matchbox Makeover for Saturday so I guess a Zac's Matchbox Makeover will have to suffice. Quite enjoyed this restoration/custom and really have to admire the fine details Lesney put into this casting right down to the number plates. For some reason the overall look of this car reminds me of Mr. Bean's Mini, minus the black hood.

That custom restoration was a breath of fresh air after seeing so many bad restorations lately. The big name customizers have been taking long breaks (hint, hint...) so I've been forced to settle for mediocrity. This one was simple, yet the result was above and beyond. Keep up the great work!

My Parents had a real Morris 1100 and I had an MG 1100 like yours which is one of my favourite Matchbox models.
@Smurphenstein4 жыл бұрын
My sister had one of these but the Austin 1300 automatic version. Two main problems were the automatic transmission used the engine oil as fluid. They also had a side mounted radiator and a distributor on the side of the block, exposed directly to rain. When you drove in a storm you had to be careful of other cars throwing up moisture as the car would often stall when the ignition very commonly got wet. Used to carry a can of water dispersant and some rags and we would usually be back up and running in a couple of minutes.

For the yellowed interior. Try saloncare40 is like $5 for 20oz or more and you brush it on like paint stripper. Wrap it up is clear good wrap and let it sit in the sun. It will come up white and won’t destroy the plastic.

Very nice colour indeed. A lot of British cars started sporting unpleasant colours towards the end of the 1960's. Shades of brown, beige, earthy tones of dun, and unfortunate shades of 'baby's first crap' were often seen, as well as travel-sickness agitating bright greens and purples. Your colour is beautiful, though. Nice one.

Very good job! Well done. The MG 1100 was of course the sports version of the Austin 1100 and as with all MGs had got quite a bit of 'poke' to it.

You say at the start of the video that you never see painted rivets, then soon after you show the green "base donor" car and it has a painted rivet. Is it another customized car?

Nice job my man! The real car was the best selling car in the UK for several years, under six different badges, yes six! Austin, Morris, Riley, Wolsley, MG and Vanden Plas . My mum had the Morris version in Old English White. It's an odd little car though. It's a saloon with a small boot (trunk), even though it looks like a hatchback. Austin and Morris had different style grilles, and the others, being more expensive, had different shape grilles, different number plate shrouds, maybe different body trim and definitely better interiors probably with more gadgets.

i have one and i am living in the Netherlands. its green but the white version looks quite good. yours is more pretty. majorette did a fiat 127 which had a dog outside the back window. but that two door car didnt have a window to open at the back. guess it was inspired by this lovely old matchbox...
