That was an accident by Gene himself. This episode was taped in 1973, hence why he accidentally said '73 instead of '74.

I noticed the prettier you where the more they let you win, if you where old you didn't win if you when up against a young attractive women. When I would see a good looking women come on I say she will win and sure enough she did. Sorry if u don't believe me that's ok. It all tv entertainment that all.

Once again, Gene is being that creepy old man he's been all his television life. He never passes up the opportunity to fondle or kiss a female celebrity or contestant. This can not just seen on Match Game, on all others game shows he's appeared in. And he's married. This kinda sexual behavior would not be tolerated today. He just got away with it in the 60s and 70s because he was a star and women didn't want to "Make Waves" (trouble) since men ruled. But I've seen certain female celebrities tell him to stop or just try to pull away to no avail. Even other celebrities tell him to stop (as Brett did in this clip) and his reply is "Why?". I wish that just one single contestant hired a lawyer and sued him, the production company and the network one time, and all this sexual harassment would have ended.
