@@MatGurman It reminds me of the first time I heard his recording of "If I didn't care" , miles removed from any Partridge Family or rock songs he performed and recorded when he was still in his twenties, displaying just how much control of his voice he had and understanding for the feel of that style of song at such a young age. It is such a crying shame that he isn't more recognized as the great and versatile vocalist he was. "The Higher they climb, the harder they fall" and "Home is where the heart is" are still 2 of my favourite albums of all-time where he shows he can really rock. Great comment. Thats exactly how I see it. He was such a showman and loved his fans, but the "machine" could never get enough. Bad contracts and loss of the person he was, not the pretend teen idol he was forced to be over and over. No wonder he withdrew. It must have been exhausting, physically and emotionally.. I only hope he had enough good in his life to make up for the bad, at some level. Heartbreaking.

Yes, a lot of people dismissed him artistically and wanted to keep him in a nostalgia roll. It’s evident here how much power and control he had. Wow what a gem of a video, thank you Mat for sharing this! Me a 13 year old with a mad crush on 21 year old David! Looking handsome of course! I miss him though, 😢 but thank goodness for KZbin videos we can still see and hear him anytime we wish! 🥰

Huge musical talent in David's family... Such a shame about his father, and then losing David in 2017... I just wish the outcome for him had been different. Very sad indeed - but lovely to see this! Thank you so much for sharing!! ❤❤❤

I remember watching The Partridge Family daily in the late 70's. Before that I was a fan of David Cassidy, used to buy Tiger Beat magazines to see him featured and read about him.

What a special piece of film! He's the only actor I ever wrote a fan letter to! My heart skipped a beat the day I heard he'd passed. Such amazing memories! From the show Bonanza & others to Partridge Family and beyond, he'll never be forgotten. ❤😊

Excellent vocals! Enjoyed this. Partridge Family was what let me know I absolutely had to play guitar and write songs.

This was really David's kind of music...one of his favorites was BB King. He chose to go the bubblegum/pop route, but his heart was elsewhere. RIP, David ♡

Your comment is spot on. He told me he was very into Jimi Hendrix and he would have loved to have more guitar chops. He would bust into a bluesy riff every once in a while. He was always experimenting with his rig also, working on getting a great rock sound because it was important to him. He had to resolve himself that people wanted the nostalgia. He tried to reinvent through more contemporary music but he knew what people wanted from him. He was very aware of different styles of music and could get into different styles effortlessly. We did a reggae version of I think I love you for the “This is your life” show. It was a great idea and all his. Most fans did not embrace it. Sad. It’s up on KZbin. Smoldering version. He was sick that morning with a sore throat but you would never know it cause he was such a pro.
