Absolutely. But have young men changed so much from 50 years ago? Friends I had back then really appeared to be happy and proud when they got laid, and it was not uncommon at all for it to be an older woman. I'm talking boys in the 14-17 range. I was not one of them, but it seemed to cause anything but trauma from what I saw. It was not a teacher/student thing though, I understand that is what makes this so bad. Girls are a totally different matter though, they really need to be protected from such things. Why?, because I know what guys are like because I am one. You may be right, but It doesn't matter, the law must be consistent. Also, this is another example of the inequalities in the judicial system that are bias against men(Divorce court, family court, criminal court e.t.c). The reason why nothing changes is because men don't really complain about much in society, we just accept it and move on unlike women who would protest for the most unimportant things. Even though there is less likelihood for regret when the victim is a boy, the law has to be consistent and children in general need to be protected from teachers who sexualize them.

The idea that students would see me that way made my skin crawl…I mean I had crushes on teachers as a kid, I know it’s a thing, but now I feel bad about how thirsty my friends and I were at like 16. When I taught middle school it was an issue. Now that I’m older than some of my students’ parents and teaching high school it’s not, thankfully. I could be accused of dressing casually (art is messy), but never in a way that advertised my figure. And I’d expect the same of a young attractive male teacher. Dress like a dad at work. I had a teacher in High School who was reprimanded by the board in the early nineties for having ‘a relationship’ with a female student. He was given unpaid leave during the investigation but eventually allowed to return to work at the same school. He did it again in the early aughts, this time the board revoked his license to teach but he was not sentenced to any jail time. I only learned about the first one after the second one came to light. I was a student of his in ‘93 and ‘95 and would never have guessed.

I worked with a woman who was a home economics teacher that slept with a 16 year old student! This is way too common! We've got pedophiles, drunks, and kids with 🔫's in our schools. There's a major MAJOR problem in this country and our school systems. We have too many people going without proper education. Our teachers are underpaid and UNDER QUALIFIED. Why is this country becoming a depressing place to live! We put zero effort into the things that matter. Health insurance, schools, dental care etc. and affordable housing all should be things we focus on in this country. But we just cannot get a grip. We spend too much money on things that don't matter! 😭

It’s always happened it’s just now being looked at as wrong. I went to school with a boy who was sleeping with a teacher… they got married and had kids once he graduated and no one seemed to bat an eye… and that wasn’t even that long ago sadly.
