I picked a route to hike from Matheson Lake to Roche Cove. It was a bit of a damp day out and I did get rained on a little bit.
Even with the rain, the day turned out great. I had another late start, so I was chasing the sunset though.
I do talk in this video😁 Just not as much as I normally do like in my other videos😃

I don't know what it is about bridges and elevated boardwalks, but I just love them! There is nothing better than being on a hike and then seeing a bridge. Beautiful scenery on your hike here.

I like the bridges for filming. I can put the camera on it and get some shots😀 This is a really nice hike around the lake. I'll have another video coming out where I take some other trails in this area and it too had some really nice views.

It was peaceful😀 In summer, there will be no mud and it'll be dry and dusty. I prefer the ground to be a little damp (not wet) so that there is no dust getting kicked up. Seems less slippery too. The Jeep is my favourite part at the end of the day😁

I always breathe harder on the hills. Once I get into a routine it's not a problem. I just huff and puff it out😁 This trail had some really great views. I quite enjoyed my time out there😀

Geez Louise, it is so beautiful out in your neck of the woods. Litterly every trail you hike is amazing. even if there is mud. But ya, I wouldn't want to fall in it. Incredible viewpoint. Lol, well, it is a beaver dam.

It is beautiful! I am glad I film it because it's nice to see some of these views again😁 There are some even more amazing trails out there that I haven't visited yet! I look forward to getting in even more new places this year😀 Mud's not my favourite, but I can manage it! I wish I could have caught the beaver on camera, but he wasn't in to it. He wanted his privacy😊

A/C is the one thing I don't have in the Jeep unfortunately! The next one will have it!!! Get your butt out there, Joe😁 Afterwards you'll feel good even though you'll be tired. It's good for the mind to get out there in the woods😀

Thank you for taking us along on this hike 👍. We wanted to do the exact same hike when we were living in View Royal. We made it for about 5 minutes before we decided to turn around and come back another day because it was too busy. We never did. Much better to go in Winter and Spring. People don't like to go out as much then, lol😁 It's a nice hike😀 I was pretty happy with the results of that shot too! If I were on the ball when I was doing it, I would have had the camera fix focus on the branches instead of having it on autofocus, but in the end it worked out just fine😊I'll need to focus on shots like this in the future... You have a stunning area to hike in. A bit jealous. The lake was absolutely beautiful. Would be great for kayaking. I really enjoyed this video. It felt like i was the one hiking it with the trail views you were giving. Oh, the moss. I love the moss.

I quite enjoyed it there😁 I have another video coming up where I revisit this area and tackle some different trails and in there I see a kayaker that had gone to one of the little islands on the lake. So it really is the perfect place for kayaking😀 That's awesome that this made you feel like you were the one hiking. I'll have to review the video again and make sure I do more of that in the future. Yeah, the moss makes it feel more alive in there😊 Lots of green. Thanks for coming along on this one Tie-dye😁

Another great one Age! Man as soon as I see first few opening shots i'm already in love in that area where you hike. So beautiful and it has everything. Woods, all the moss, lake, little creek, big rocks, those tree roots, interesting trails... perfect. Made me jelous now again haha. I've got some beautiful views here, but not nearly cool trails as you do in your area. Bit careful on the slippery terrain and a whole lot of hiking paradise. There is certainly a lot of beauty around here! I enjoy getting out to explore it😁 This trail is a pretty cool one because it does offer up quite a lot! I enjoy the lake views and the little islands in the middle of the lake. I'm glad you enjoy it and I'll be happy to film more😀 I'm sure I'd find where you live beautiful too! We always get comfortable with where we live and my not appreciate what is around us as much when we get to see it everyday😊

I wish I could have seen the beaver in action! I don't know if you want beavers there. With no natural predators they can wreak havoc on the environment. They really are amazing how much they can transform a landscape and they reproduce quickly. They're cool to see though😀 This place is actually quite nice and I enjoyed it. I had a lot of the trail to myself😊

Thanks, Jim😁 Yeah, that's a really long boardwalk they have there! I like these boardwalks because they make it easier to filming😀 Yeah, some of the views of the lake that I got were pretty cool! I've got another video coming out in a few weeks where I revisit this area and take another trail that I hadn't been on and it gets up there even higher for some pretty good views. I'd like to make it to that little island in the lake sometime. It looks like a nice place for a lunch or something like that. I'm glad you enjoyed the video😊

Camping is nice because you can do some outdoor cooking. Some of the places you go though, I wonder what you're supposed to do if you have to go to the toilet, lol😁 I sometimes don't enjoy the start of hiking, but I always seem to get in a groove and then really enjoy that I'm out there and that I've done it😀

Great hiking video. Apparently there are about a lot of different forest types on the same route. The water in the stream shown in the video is probably drinkable without boiling. There would seem to be good opportunities to fish. Have you fished there?

It's a great place😁 Always boil the water. You never know what animal has been in it or even person doing something. At this place, I actually wouldn't want to drink that water without some proper filtration. We're close enough to human activity. Yes, there are good opportunities to fish. In the lake there will be trout and when I got to Roche Cove, that is the Pacific Ocean so there would be good fishing opportunities there🎣🎣 I'll have to fish at the lake sometime! I have not fished in either place yet.

I don't have a hero camera. I use my cellphone on GorillaPod. I have had the Google Pixel 8 Pro since December and I love it. I used to have the Google Pixel 5 which I filmed my hikes on previously. I still use the Pixel 5 for multi-cam situations like cooking. I have found a problem with low light. The cellphone will automatically drop the framerate to allow more light in and that messes with the playback making it look jittery. Now that I know what it is and the camera will do that, I'll try to compensate for it. I have a Canon EOS Rebel SL3 DSLR Camera, but I don't use that out hiking. It's not water resistance and it's a bit big and bulky to be carrying. I also don't know how to properly video with it yet. Things come out looking subpar. I'll have to learn it one day... Yeah, the view of the little island in the lake in the misty fog is pretty cool to see. I enjoyed looking at it in person😀

@@lifesahobby it's early in the morning...correction, I do have a GoPro Hero 5 Black. I just call it a GoPro and usually forget the Hero part, lol😁 I can be stupid sometimes🤪 I don't use the GoPro or my hikes. The GoPro will be used in the Jeep mounted to the dash. I also used it to get creative and film water getting poured into my cup for tea😀 I do want to try using it to get some cool underwater shots in lakes and creeks. I'll have to do that this summer.
