Thanks for the video. I think this lens as well as the Sigma 24-70mm Art (you tested recently), are both terrific values to use with the SL2. I don't always want to use my M lenses but these two L-Mount auto focus lenses for a total of $1,500, is terrific. If only Sigma would release a 28mm f/2.8 or f/2 L-Mount version, either in their Art or Contemporary lineup, I'd be very happy. Their 28mm f/1.4 is a bit too big for me.

I have both the sl2 and the 45mm contemporary sigma lens, for the money and size as you say its a great little lens especially for walking around

Love the comparison of the night shot at 47MP and 187MP at ISO 1600. Didn’t realise that it is so much cleaner than the ISO 400. Thank you.....

I am in the process of putting together my next photography set up between the Hasselblad X1d ll and the Leica SL 2 with the intention of making my own wide format prints. Particularly for landscape my thought is that the SL 2 in the multi shot mode, which makes a 187 meg file, that the SL2 will maintain more detail and cleaner images than the Hassy.

The SL2 it’s a Greatest camera but To me it’s more important to have 16 bit!!! Multishot mode is usable only for still life not so much for landscape (water, wind and long exposure)😉

Great video. Thanks. I have ordered this lens for my SL

I don’t really understand the point of the videos for these 2 cameras side by side because you haven’t compared them side by side. I would like to see how they perform side by side in terms of dynamic range , color , tonality , high iso. I personally dissapointed with the 2 videos.

Will very likely follow-up with that comparison you are looking for but then go for the Sigma 35 on SL2 to make the focal lengths matching...

@@mathphotographer I prefer Leica SL 35mm F2 lens on SL2 or SL2-S.

Sigma glass will save the L Alliance ...That and Panasonic finally relenting and using a sensor with Phase detect points for improved AF...

Thanks for a very interesting and refreshingly objective review of a reasonably priced 45mm Sigma lens! Re rooftop footage of lake Zurich at 13:07 mark, I'm curious about how you go about doing a 'stacked' or 'multiple' image. Is this a function that you can only have with L mount lenses or something in the SL2 menu, or are you using some sort of rail? thank you.

Ah... I see, it's in the latest firmware. Apologies.

Great video, I would be grateful if you could compare the Sigma 65mm f2. I am interested to see if it is sharp wide open and also how it compares with native SL glass, ideally hoe it compares with the 50 f2 and if possible the 75mm f2. It is an extremely interesting focal length and also will keep the SL small as with the Sigma 45. I have an SL which I love, but modest funds as I am just starting my Leica journey.

Agree with what you said here, i have both Leica and Sigma lenses and use them depending on where I am going and what I am shooting. The Leica lenses are amazing, but I hate risking them if I am in a "risky" situation for breakage or theft. Lol, so Sigma is my "danger" lens. They are good, but the Leica is butter.

Can you compare and comment on the two camera’s picture quality? I know it is FF vs MF. Maybe in part three video? Thanks.

Pairing a Leica SL2 with this Sigma contemporary lens for me would be a no-go. Its like putting the cheapest tires on a Ferrari. Sigma, Panasonic or Leica has to bring out a small, but stellar performing lens with AF for their systems.
@dcrilley96244 жыл бұрын
I think you should try the Sigma 45mm before your Ferrari analogy has any bite.. Sure, it has obvious limitations, one of which is that it is very soft wide open and nearly wide open. However, at mid apertures it is sharp, fast and built like a tank. It is astonishingly well built at the price and ideally suited to street photography which most shoot by zone focusing at a mid aperture. Its no art lens.
@dazNilo4 жыл бұрын
@@dcrilley9624 well you just said it right there: its soft wide open and "nearly wide open". If I´m shooting hand held low light, i dont need 1.4 ( also because I`m not willing to lug a heavy 1.4 lens around), but i want my lenses to be sharp at f2 or f2.8. And if i want to do some "critical" zone focusing I´m going to use a manual lens that provides a dof-scale. I`m sorry, but this sigma contemporary lens, although it looks really good, it would not be a worthy consideration for me. Especially not when I´m willing to spend 5k on a camera body. There are far better options out there (for me) if someone wants relative compactness and really good IQ with a full frame camera.

Why would you buy a Leica camera and put a Sigma lens on it, might as well buy a canon or Nikon then.
