I believe that Mrs. Trunchbull always wanted power because she was larger than others. She probably was really unhappy with herself because she couldn't get what she wanted. In the book it's all but confirmed that she did kill him. And she was really horrible to Miss Honey, basically being a way worse version of Cinderella's stepmother. And when Matilda asked Miss Honey if her aunt beat her she said "let's not get into details". On top of that, Trunchbull forced Miss Honey to sign a contract that she would pay her back all the expenses it took to raise her, taking it from her salary and only allowing her to live on one pound a week "pocket money", which is basically almost four American dollars today. In the musical adaption (original stage version, not Netflix) they go into this part of the story too

It still amazes me that a movie made in 1996 was able to do all of these crazy things. Like that chalk writing scene in 0:39, That was all practical. Apparently there was a strong magnet inside of the chalk and there was a guy behind the blackboard writing backwards with another magnet. So yeah, that chalk was not CGI, that was completely practical, the chalk was literally moving on its own because a guy was writing backwards behind the blackboard.

1:12 this scream is gorgeous. The Trunchbull is actually scared,and the text is pretty menacing too. The best part is how Matilda uses the nicknames Magnus gave them(Jenny and Agatha) to make it feel even more realistic. In the new movie the text is just generic.

You know that isn't a logical reduction. It's often said of actors and actresses that there has to be something in the character that they already have in their own character or that they can at least identify with. So many of them say this. However, it's also totally true that there's no such thing as 'inherent goodness' or 'natural goodness', that humans are naturally predisposed to evil. The only reason why we're not all murderous monsters is because we have a uniquely human ability - the aspiration to something greater. Animals don't have it. Only humans do. You have to grapple with the fact YOU could do the most horrific things, and that you will, to teeter close to the line to see that you're indeed capable of being a monster, but then to step back and to control it. That is what 'goodness' really is. It's a recognition of this and being able to control it. The aspiration to something greater. Anyone who denies this or uses the term 'wouldn't hurt a fly' is naive and just plain in denial about themselves or others. Oh yes you COULD be like Trunchbull and in fact it's most likely you WOULD be given the right circumstances and evironment and warping of your character. 'Goodness' is a measure of a person's ability to control their own damned well dark desires and monsters. Innocence is something completely different, and it's not the case that those who are innocent are necessarily in fact good. Like, want a bet?
@Panwere362 жыл бұрын
@@organisationxiv2927 , wow.. a lot to say and not much to do with the actual matter at hand. Where did I say in any manner that humans are "inherently good"? In what I said did you feel stimulated to give this diatribe. Now, civilized people can act the way Trunchbill did, for certain, but this was never at all about "the goodness of humanity by default" in any way.

Borderline attempted murder, if Matilda hadn't intervened that kid would've gone head first through a quarter inch glass pane and fallen 2-3 stories. And that wouldn't have been the only charge.
@MovieLover19953 жыл бұрын
The part when she screams into the camera, and then the kid screams into the camera scared the crap out of me growing up. Still bothers me today as an adult.
@kenweeraratne4313 жыл бұрын
I mean tbf she basically yeeted that kid out the window, and was trying to viciously hunt down and kill home intruders in a previous scene, and also previously forced the fat kid to eat a whole giant cake against his own will, so she's not exactly the most sane person.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's mas. ALL women must have a redemption arc and are in fact victims of oppression and being warped, WE MUST change the narrative. It's complete rubbish. How about this: a woman can just be plain e*vi0l and deserve everything she gets. Just like a man. End of story.

Darth Vader: Luke, I... am your father Students: I sleep. Miss Honey: Aunt Trunchbull! Students: Real shit!?!? Trunchbull: Shut ya holes! Palpatine: A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!
@efrainsoto963 ай бұрын
It sounds like you're combining some iconic pop culture moments with a humorous twist! If I understand correctly: - Darth Vader's famous line to Luke Skywalker ("I am your father") is met with a nonchalant reaction from students, as if they were bored. - Miss Honey's (from *Matilda*) reference to Aunt Trunchbull is met with shock and disbelief from the students. - Aunt Trunchbull's stern response ("Shut ya holes!") is followed by a surprising but welcoming comment from Palpatine. It's a clever mash-up of characters from different universes! If you need any more help with this or anything else, just let me know.
