I have a friend who met Matt Damon on several occasions by accident- she was traveling for business and her company placed her in the same hotel where Damon was staying. She kept running into him at random in the lobby, the bar etc. One day she was waiting for the elevator, the doors open, and Matt Damon is standing there, and she says to him, "you've got to stop doing this" and he laughed. We have a running joke about Matt Damon stalking her. She said he's really nice, though.

About 15 years ago when I was a kid, I was sitting on a plane while everyone was boarding. I was wearing a Yankee hat. From out of nowhere, someone said to me: "Yankees suck." I looked up, and it was Matt Damon, in full denim, wearing a Red Sox hat. We laughed. I couldn't believe it. Later while in flight, the movie that was showing was Ocean's 12. I went up to first class and asked Matt if he would sign my plane program over the Ocean's 12 blurb. He asked my name and happily signed. That program was pinned to my refrigerator until I went to college. He couldn't have been a nicer guy. We were on our way back from Miami and I later found out that he had just proposed to his girlfriend who is still his wife.

The Will Hunting character did cuss a lot. He had a rough life, and a hard childhood, was abused by his stepfather, and so cussing a lot made him feel tough , to mask his vulnerabilities. However, his therapist, played by Robin Williams, did not normally use that kind of language, but copied Will’s language during the sessions. Most people theorize that it was to prove to Will that he did not feel superior to him.

popeye697 they are scripted to the point that they have set topics and stories that the guest want to tell. Hosts do not ask heavy hitting questions without preapproval because then one of two things will happen, 1) they will have less guests agreeing to come on the show 2) the hosts bosses will be pissed because they defamed a guest and whatever project that guest is promoting that the boss/company is likely invested in. Ben Afflect (and his team) 100% ASKED Stephen to question him on that topic because Ben needed to get ahead of the story and apologize publicly. Matt was not at all nervous about that, he had no need to be.

Matt has really grown into something nice. Being an artist I notice how people look and some are never comfortable in their own skin. Matt is very comfortable now.

don't know if its because I'm British but the insane amount of clapping on these piss me off big time like I had to skip forward a whole minute of it.

Yep the Americans love a fake clap, it's like they have been programmed to clap at any sentence, it's very strange..... And fake.

Matt Damon is a great actor, and he plays the “douchebag” role extremely well, like in The Departed, Interstellar, and EuroTrip.

John Battiste and band are great. They put in a bunch of jazz references into their intros and even little incidental musical moments. This intro was some Coltrane tune that I can't recall the name of. And in some other interview I heard Battiste do a Thelonious Monk quote from the melody of Trinkle-Tinkle. I'm not much of a jazz nerd, but it's cool to see them dig into American music culture like that.
