Great convo- And great point about Thomas Brown being more than deserving of serious consideration, based not only on his Bears track record but his background. The talented Offensive mind = great next Head Coach thinking is what got us Matt Nagy. Everyone at the time said Nagy was a no-brainer homerun hire. And it was, until it wasn't. So people need to pump the brakes on Ben Johnson being the Holy Grail of head coach hires. Having said that, I want a HC who has his own offensive scheme, creativity and playcalling acumen. We don't need a defensive-focused guy whose OC is leaving as soon as he achieves success with the Bears. Former head coaches can make great defensive coordinators. So that post ca be refilled without affecting the QB's development and continuity. The offensive side of the ball needs an identity and continuity during CW's rookie contract window, and hopefully beyond. In an ideal world, Thomas Brown could be our Sean Payton. (..?) #BearDown2025

It should be as obvious as the cold air outside in Chicago this morning that the Bears shouldn't even be interviewing defensive coaches for this job. Job #1 for the next Bears coach is to provide our QB with a coherent offensive scheme that he can grow in the next few years. Not jerking him around from one OC to another because you have some defensive head coach. Don't even bring Brian Flores or Vrabel or any of these people in here for interviews.

There's other factors like who his staff is going to be. I'm not sure the OL coach should still be here, for example. Also regarding the offense, Brown still needs to answer for how the o offense seemingly only works for a half or a quarter per game. We're constantly forced to try for some heroic catch up to close out games. That said, excited to see how this looks the rest of the season, the Flus needed to go, and Brown gets a chance to show what he's got.

Maybe if he didn’t constantly trash talk the patriots every chance he gets all the while that team was constructed by Belichick.
@AagoMcFly4 күн бұрын
It wasn't that much better without him either. I doubt most coaches would have had that long term success. You see teams lose the spark after a while often. @ you can also tell who hasn’t paid attention to the last 3 years of patriots football. The reason they’re currently tanking this year with a highly drafted QB is because of Bill Belichick. Years of bad drafting that came back to bite them, years of overspending in free agency to make up for some piss poor drafting, decades of incestuous hiring practices riddled with cronyism that led to some of the worst coordinator hires in the last five years. Just go ask Mac Jones how great it was to have Matt Patricia as an offensive coordinator, because Belichick definitely hiring Patricia if he gets another job. Brady covered up a lot of stink, and he’s not walking through any doors with Belichick ever again. Not about age I just recognize bad process when I see it

Thomas Brown has been an assistant head coach so he's the logical experienced choice for this. He's actually got more wide spread experience all over than just hiring a damn OC of the moment and I still would prefer an older experienced HC. According to Ryan Fitzpatrick Todd Monken has the IT factor for being a head coach plus he tailors his offense to his players strengths. He is also from Wheaton IL and 13 of his his family members have coached high school football His father did it for 30 years The media needs to be researching Monken in a big way for Bears fans. He made Lamar Jackson a better passer especially on deep balls something we know Caleb needs help with.

Let's say eberflus takes the timeout at 3rd and 26. Williams throws for 10 yards over the middle to make it a 48 yard field goal, that you have to rush your FG team onto the field because you can't stop the clock since it's 4th and 16. Eberflus deserved to be fired, but the players have to get the play off and use the timeout afterwards

@donkramer94453 күн бұрын
A timeout after the sack lets you regroup, remind players to get out of bounds and prepares your field goal unit to run out in a hurry. 30 seconds then gives them plenty of time. Maybe, they’re able to throw a quick out.

I really don't think having coached in a Super Bowl should be important. John Fox coached in the Super Bowl, but with Peyton Manning. Pretty sure I could have "coached" a Super Bowl win if he was my QB, probably even if I was taking a really long nap on the sideline so I wouldn't have to watch the game. That is a misleading stat. And even if they sort of are impressive wins, like when Doug Pderson won with Philly, it can still flop.
