Great convo- And great point about Thomas Brown being more than deserving of serious consideration, based not only on his Bears track record but his background. The talented Offensive mind = great next Head Coach thinking is what got us Matt Nagy. Everyone at the time said Nagy was a no-brainer homerun hire. And it was, until it wasn't. So people need to pump the brakes on Ben Johnson being the Holy Grail of head coach hires. Having said that, I want a HC who has his own offensive scheme, creativity and playcalling acumen. We don't need a defensive-focused guy whose OC is leaving as soon as he achieves success with the Bears. Former head coaches can make great defensive coordinators. So that post ca be refilled without affecting the QB's development and continuity. The offensive side of the ball needs an identity and continuity during CW's rookie contract window, and hopefully beyond. In an ideal world, Thomas Brown could be our Sean Payton. (..?) #BearDown2025

This is true, I am sure it will be slightly more difficult doing it with a staff assembled by a different HC. But from looking at his resume he has plenty of experience and with his Assistant HC role in LA he likely experienced a lot and learned from McVay.

It should be as obvious as the cold air outside in Chicago this morning that the Bears shouldn't even be interviewing defensive coaches for this job. Job #1 for the next Bears coach is to provide our QB with a coherent offensive scheme that he can grow in the next few years. Not jerking him around from one OC to another because you have some defensive head coach. Don't even bring Brian Flores or Vrabel or any of these people in here for interviews.

There's other factors like who his staff is going to be. I'm not sure the OL coach should still be here, for example. Also regarding the offense, Brown still needs to answer for how the o offense seemingly only works for a half or a quarter per game. We're constantly forced to try for some heroic catch up to close out games. That said, excited to see how this looks the rest of the season, the Flus needed to go, and Brown gets a chance to show what he's got.

@ you can also tell who hasn’t paid attention to the last 3 years of patriots football. The reason they’re currently tanking this year with a highly drafted QB is because of Bill Belichick. Years of bad drafting that came back to bite them, years of overspending in free agency to make up for some piss poor drafting, decades of incestuous hiring practices riddled with cronyism that led to some of the worst coordinator hires in the last five years. Just go ask Mac Jones how great it was to have Matt Patricia as an offensive coordinator, because Belichick definitely hiring Patricia if he gets another job. Brady covered up a lot of stink, and he’s not walking through any doors with Belichick ever again. Not about age I just recognize bad process when I see it

Thomas Brown has been an assistant head coach so he's the logical experienced choice for this. He's actually got more wide spread experience all over than just hiring a damn OC of the moment and I still would prefer an older experienced HC. That can institute a fluid chain of command and communication throughout the team/ tired of hearing collaboration and getting no communication. And the special teams sucks since last year I'm over that also

According to Ryan Fitzpatrick Todd Monken has the IT factor for being a head coach plus he tailors his offense to his players strengths. He is also from Wheaton IL and 13 of his his family members have coached high school football His father did it for 30 years The media needs to be researching Monken in a big way for Bears fans. He made Lamar Jackson a better passer especially on deep balls something we know Caleb needs help with.

Let's say eberflus takes the timeout at 3rd and 26. Williams throws for 10 yards over the middle to make it a 48 yard field goal, that you have to rush your FG team onto the field because you can't stop the clock since it's 4th and 16. Eberflus deserved to be fired, but the players have to get the play off and use the timeout afterwards

I really don't think having coached in a Super Bowl should be important. John Fox coached in the Super Bowl, but with Peyton Manning. Pretty sure I could have "coached" a Super Bowl win if he was my QB, probably even if I was taking a really long nap on the sideline so I wouldn't have to watch the game. That is a misleading stat. And even if they sort of are impressive wins, like when Doug Pderson won with Philly, it can still flop.

Really tired of the press taking the victory laps. Was Flus a good head coach? No! But the reactionary press celebrating his firing, to me, would only be equaled by a coach having a press member fired. Like Weiderer and his premature tweet.

Brown is NOT READY for a HC position. Jumping 2 tiers to HC is piling the plate a little high! I would like to see him as OC for a FULL season running HIS OWN offense before I'd feel comfortable with him at HC. Johnson or Shanahan would be GREAT!

I get it! However, I am appalled at the lack of compassion and humaneness of Media personnel. You idiots! Coach Flus put many of you , Back on the map! He was not the Superbowl coach you want at this at this time. Have you forgotten, the Bears were not even talked about a few years ago! The culture, the brand, the marketing, Coach Flus was excellent! In the win column, He was not! Poles, new that going into this year. Poles did nothing to protect His franchise Quarterback from being broken, by shoring up the offensive line. If Warren was in the locker room, with no interviews, talking to players, to me, that means Poles, is on the hot seat as well! Peace. LaMu

If Thomas Brown wins a couple games and the team is better with the offense rolling, I wouldn't be opposed to having him full time but ONLY IF Ben Johnson declines an offer.

What a horrible take! Thomas Brown? Really? They need to search far and wide for a REAL head coach. It would be so Bears to go cheap and think they got their guy with Brown instead of looking at real, serious, high-end candidates. Gotta get this right. Houge and Jahns, you need to watch how real NFL offense operate. Brown is already over his head

If the Bears want to win, they will pay for a top coach but knowing it is the Bears they will hire the cheapest most unexperienced coach available

They go 2-3, even 1-4 and play decent, he's hired. He's cheap, and can be bossed around, the Bears way. Hire Vrabel tomorrow if we want to win.

Here’s a take that none of the press /podcasters of the Chicago bears will voice, is Caleb Williams a coach killer? His play cost the OC his job. In the Lions game he changed the play call with 43 seconds left and that partially cost Flus his job. Did he want Brown as head coach?

Waldron's offence was nonsensical......he cost himself his job and the HC has to call that timeout immediately after the sack which makes everything afterwards irrelevant

@ the offense now is the same one that is being used now. The difference is how it’s being implemented and how the QB is responding to the plays called. He changed the call at the end of the game. I realize there are those who think of him as the second coming of Christ. All I’m saying is don’t underestimate his intelligence nor his cunning. I’ve seen QBs in the past under preform to rid themselves of a coach they don’t care for.

But it’s not just this game the Washington game was cluster with the Hail Mary and flus said every player was ok and there was no need for a time out or even the 13 yrs or whatever didn’t matter and dang so many different and flus says that’s ok when they’re not

@ I agree that Flus hung himself out to dry. I personally like the coaches that are straight with the press and fans. I like Tomlin and Campbell. Flus and Washington creep me out with their inability to answer questions straight and honest. Too much politics. The players see through that BS
