I promise you that ProAir flights out of Detroit City Airport to Orlando, Florida when the airline existed was without question the most ghetto rinky dink ride ever. I remember booking huge groups headed for cruise ships for $59 each ticket (my cost) but I’d usually at least go for $119 and pocket $60 profit/ea. What I didn’t tell them was that if you HAD to be in Orlando that day for your cruise, well don’t fly ProAir. Maybe a 1 in 3 chance your flight isn’t late or cancelled. I was like 19 and I had a YZF-R1 to buy so if cheap ass hell flights (even with my markup) wasn’t a clue then you don’t want to know anyway.

I can attest to the seats in the RS. I’ve driven a few of them as a mechanic and I like how they drive but the seats are so narrow across the shoulders, and stiff. A very small person might find them okay but for any average sized male human they’re not a good fit.

I own an RS, I'm just over 6ft but i'm thin. So the seats fit me pretty well. I have a 6ft4in friend who was giddy to check it out but the second he sat in the car it looked like the hulk trying to squeeze into a mini, the seats aren't for people with large frames Keep seeing people complain on the ride quality but maybe it's more the roads than the ride? I'm in australia and have driven many high-end cars well outside the RS pay grade and the ride on comfort and race is really good. I think there is better of course, but I can't understand the hate unless the roads are genuine dogshit

This is almost sad to see/hear. Matt was part of the reason I pulled the trigger on buying a Focus RS. He's a couple inches taller than me and seeing that he fit comfortably in there was a selling point. Yes if you have it on the track suspension setting on public streets it's a bit jarring to say the least, but the normal setting really isn't that bad. I've been daily driving mine at 5'11" and averaging about 300lbs for years now with no complaints. Even took it to east Texas and back from Southern California. Over three years and just shy of 60k miles and it's still arguably the best car I've had.

I immediately vowed to never drive another Focus RS. Also, just sold my 718. Bought it without a test drive. Really enjoyed it for a few years, but never got used to how soft the suspension was and the sub-par interior materials, not to mention all the squeaks and rattles that should not exist in a $70k car. Also, couldn’t believe how many standard options that exist in other manufacturers, but Porsche doesn’t include. Seriously, Porsche is a decade behind on standard options vs the rest of the world.

Worked at a CDJR dealership as a fleet and internet director in late 2019. GM let me have a demo car. We had a 2018 Mini Cooper Works S. Turbo AWD! Was the most fun to drive car I ever had. More fun than WRX Sti, Evo Lancer, Camarillo LT1. Handled like it wan on rails and had decent acceleration. I drove the shit outta that car. Was sad when we sold it.

Reminds me of one time I test drove a Honda S2000 and it was great but wrong color. Dealer had the grey car with oxblood seats coming in that I wanted. Luckily test drove it before signing and sear bolsters were a bit narrower that stuck in my kidneys. Dealer tried to say they will break in as I drive the car but so painful I can't drive it more than a block. No buy and went to get a new Subaru STI with no radio.

Wow, I've heard Matt talk about the R53 Mini with great admiration, but never heard this side of it! I traded my Miata for my R53, not a bad trade-up considering I got the Miata in trade for a model airplane! :)

@@joshuagibson2520 yes, not for the entire value, but a huge part of it. It was an 81inch wingspan AT-6 Texan with a Saito 1.5 cubic inch four stroke engine, retractable landing gear and upgraded (new) electronics. It sat unflown in my cousins basement for 30 years and then I fixed it up and flew it and then traded it for my 1990 rust free Mariner Blue Miata in August of '19. Loved that car, fixed it up and it was so nice, but I'm an Ogre, lol. At 6'5" I fit a lot better in the Mini...

I've sold cars at over 20 car dealerships...NOT ONE OF THEM would allow a customer to buy ANY car without driving it first! It didn't matter of the person worked there, or said "I already own ten, just like it." EVERYBODY DRIVES THE CAR FIRST!! There are a few states where it is illegal to sell a cat without having them test drive it first
