I'm super curious most people say only do one or 2 marathons in a year let alone 2 as you have done so close and at such a high performance level. What is your rational behind this third attempt so close to the other 2 versus waiting until the fall ? I had a pretty bad performance last week way below my capabilities and I thought what if I used it as a training run and did another attempt then I saw your video any insight would be appreciated. And either way good luck.
@sweatelite

I think there's a pretty big difference in recovering from a Marathon at 95% effort as opposed to 100% effort, as strange as that sounds. In Osaka, I wasn't able to empty the tank due to the cramping.
@mikefaber3567
@mikefaber3567 Жыл бұрын
@@sweatelite wow thanks so much ! I definitely wasn't near 100 percent the weather got unusually warm and it threw me off for whatever reason. So I don't feel quite as crazy for thinking of it as more of a training run and regrouping.

I know how both situations work running with a pack and running alone. Funnily enough and I think I just had that day, I ran my Mara pb ( by 9mins ) on my own. Finished 3rd, but that was solo from about 600m into the race. I think if you can control the tempo early, get into a groove and have all the extra stuff ( good weather, blah blah blah ) . 4 weeks later, ran my fastest half running solo also. I train a lot on my own and I just said to myself.. You train on your own, race on your own. 2hr 30 is my goal at Melbourne. if I don't run it, I'll be giving the dream of a sub 2hr 30 dream away and cementing the 2hr 34.. I'm 47 this year and I think I may not have enough go in me to do it again. Good luck mate, I really think this weekend is the one. All ya gotta do is smile,

Good luck, Matt! Regarding your calves: are you feeling cramps or do they simply feel like stones and bother you all day long? My right calf is killing me for months now and I cannot find a fix. Last hope is such a massage gadget, maybe? Or trying a different type of Magnesium perhaps? Doctors couldn't really find anything without digging deep with advanced techniques... basically they said: stop running and see if it recovers. Well... it doesn't.
@sweatelite
@sweatelite Жыл бұрын
It's mostly in the hamstrings and they only bother me at the very end of Marathons and about 30-60min afterwards (walking around)...I've tried Magnesium.
