This song brings me back to a time I was “trying out” for a band in high school. Went to guitar center with a couple friends who wanted to see what I could do and this is the song I played. When I played the intro, they looked at each other and were shocked. They didn’t know rancid like I did. Matt, you’ve inspired so many bass players with your phenomenal bass lines!

Matt, you are the reason I picked up bass decades ago. I’ve spent the last 30 years of my life teasing out your bass lines. You’ve contributed to the soundtrack of my life, from epic parties to hanging out with friends to the toughest times. Through my early teenage skate punk phase, street punk phase, skinhead phase, and now middle age, you’ve always been in rotation with Op Ivy and Rancid. You are a master craftsman and a maestro who deserves all the recognition and accolades. I tip my hat to you. I would love to see Freeze Up in a future Bass Bunker video. I can’t say see ya in the pit anymore because my old ass will be at the bar, but the sentiment remains.

Watching these videos has been a reliable highlight of every week for me. I'm pretty sure I spent the summer of '96 in my basement with my first bass and unreliable tabs just brute forcing my way into learning as much of ...And Out Come the Wolves as possible. I'm pretty sure that learning to play along to that is the only reason I became okay enough to join a shitty teenage punk band. Now - nearly 30 years later - I'm in a shitty middle-aged punk band! Thanks, Matt!
