I really enjoy Higby because he gives you realistic reasons and possibilities for game mechanics. When someone suggests an idea he gives you the realistic possibility of it being ingame and why it is or isn't implemented.

Great interview. I was really impressed with Matt's priorities around the game. Seemed like a guy who really likes gaming and cares a lot about making PS2 a great game. LVLCap did a good job of asking meaningful questions and then letting the guy answer them fully. This is what it looks like when someone who knows what they're talking about interviews someone else who knows what they're talking about.

Great interview - this is exactly what gamers look for in development studios - the ability to speak to devs and ask then why they have taken certain design decisions or made certain changes and just hear what they have to say. DICE could really learn from this.

The "Fireteam"- thing would be really nice! Not specially for spawning, but for a chain of command: You have one overall commander (the guy who sticked the longest to his faction/Highest rank/Whatever). He gives orders to, say 10-15 Companies. Each "Captain" (the company's leader) gives splits these orders to his 6 or so squads. The squadleader gives the orders to his fireteams. I think, this would be awesome. and as casual player you could still join a fireteam, spawn and shoot stuff :)

something about heving good pc gives you sense of power. I guess its the fact that when i made my first super computer around 14 it led to me becoming a motion graphics designer/web designer/programmer, instead of just a gamer.

Patch requires a radius of 20 meters free of other friendly sundies to deploy. There are some other patches to keep sundys balanced in the most recent patch notes.

On the contrary, he had good reasons for everything and it was obvious they've put a lot of thought into how they want the game to play out. Only thing worrying me is the short time until launch. Seems like they have a ton of stuff to add and tweak in just that short timespan.

For the pods have them have a battery in them and it runs out in a certain amout of power. That way it doesn't have too much power.

Absolutely correct. I have an xbox and like to just chill playing BF3. However, my channel is built around free games so I personally grew to be a more competitive player (Free games = PC/Mac games which leads to that competitive playstyle). Totally understand both sides of choosing a console though.

God forbid you step on the toes of support classes, they're already the best classes in the game. Medic: best gun in the game, heals, self heals, revives. Engineer: shielded turret, vehicle repair, infinite ammo pack, same gun as light assault. Light assault: extremely limited jetpack.

The reason most people buy consoles is that it's just more casual then a pc. Some people just want to come home after work or school to sit on the couch and play some games. Even though it maybe cheaper and may last longer, you can't achieve that with a pc. Maybe other people at your work or school have the same system and you can play some BF3 on the weekends, it's less likely that they'll have a pc though.

PS2 is currently in Beta. launch will be november the 20 if i remember correctly. if you do not want to wait a month, i think your best bet for a beta key is to follow planetside2 and the devs on twitter and ask for one (dont spam). thats how i got mine

i think that you should only be able to spawn as a light assault and an engineer from the sunderers and the galaxy drop ship still has the ability to change classes but not to spawn

you could have 3 possible fire squads per squads - in the fire squads anyone in the fire squad would be able to spawn on their fire team but then not on the squad leader.

What the game really needs is believable weapon designs. Right now, most of the guns look totally impractical and unrealistic. Making them look more functional would make the game aesthetically better.
