I'm severely overweight and I've been working out alone for a couple months. My friend invited me to a crossfit class and I was so nervous. I really thought I wouldnt be able to finish or keep up. I didnt do as much lifting weight as them, but I kept up and finished it! It was the worst thing I've ever done, but also the best. I signed up for a couple more classes

I am the same I've been doing crossfit for a while now 4 years and honestly it has helped me a lot i really enjoy it and love that it's always a different workout never the same it encourages me to keep going and i hope that you'll enjoy it too. Ps many say that you get easily injured in crossfit but its more about knowing your limits when doing anything heavy and perfecting the more difficult exercises, I can say that I've never gotten injured i started when i was 12 years old with a small 30 pound bar and now im 16 and today i did my 1 rep max of clean and jerk and got to 225 pounds i was really surprised it made me realize all the progress I've made since I started, and sorry it's a bit long i went off 😂 but good luck i hope you enjoy it.

Thank you all so much for your support. Since the start of the year I've lost almost 15 pounds! I am working on trying to find a little extra money each month so I can afford to go to more of these classes! I try to mimic them as best I can at home, I just dont have the weights. Thank you all again!

Oh! That is really impressive! Working out when overweight is much harder! Probably the corona virus keeps you indoors these weeks. @dirk diggler I get what you're talking about, but he hasn't had any drastic physique changes since like 2017. He has stayed pretty much the same this whole time, sometimes a bit leaner, but still. That would be a good indication of him being in something. Aside of that, there are no signs of gear use whatsoever. So I don't think he's been on steroids at least for the past 3-4 years.

So I been trying CrossFit. Here’s my take: It’s weirdly addicting. He’s right, you have to be a little crazy to keep wanting to torture your body like that. It’s definitely a euphoric feeling, like at some point you feel pleasure when the pain hits your muscles on those large volume movements. I know.. shit is freaky but I’ll be honest that’s what I experienced. After the workout you feel amazing(except the first couple sessions, my body was literally immobile after trying snatches for the first time in a while 😂). After a week rest, I was back at it, and I haven’t felt that type of soreness again. Idk man, it feels fucking good to massage those muscles and omg stretching. It’s another type of euphoria I can’t explain it 😂.Y’all be safe though, Matt has a point. There’s a lot of technical movements in CrossFit, and it’s not safe to do them at the point of extreme fatigue because your body naturally compensates and your technique goes to shit, increasing risk to injury. I suggest having a coach/ knowing your boundaries to keep yourself safe. Lower weights and reps on difficult movements. Learn the basics first before doing an all out sprint metcon, you’ll die bruh. What’s cool is that there’s ways to get the work in no matter what level you are. Can’t do pull ups? Well there’s a lot of variations that decrease in difficulty, so you can still work those muscles at an easier difficulty until you can do full pull ups. Y’all get me ?😂 Conclusion: do I recommend CrossFit to beginners who know nothing about their bodies/ body mech/ strength limits.... NO. I feel like you gotta have some basic knowledge about movement and exercise. Get your coordination right man, it’s the key to everything, It’s so easy to break your shit with CrossFit. Know your limits, and work within them. Be safe y’all.

It is always good for the body to mix up different fitness styles or sports. I usually mix my bodybuilding with long distance running and playing ball sports. You will get the best of different worlds. Most importantly you won't get bored with only one.

this shows how much crossfitters can build muscle and also be conditioned at the same time. but cant neglect what each sport is trying to achieve. functional training is very useful. someday or one people will always choose functional over one dimensional training.

This makes me miss Crossfit in the box so much. I was going to Crossfit classes for a month before the pandemic hit. Our box (or gym) is open now but I’m hesitant to go back with local COVID cases rising :( I’ve been doing WODs at home but it’s definitely not the same as doing it with my friends and in the box. Crossfit is definitely a stamina-demanding exercise but you’ll be yearning for that good kind of pain and ache after each session. I’ve tried sports and going to the gym, but Crossfit is just amazing and addicting.
