I had my barbie dolls with me when I was watching this and checked ther backs . One quick question why on ther backs?

The year and country of origin? That's easy. The Ideal company invented the idea of putting the information on the doll, not just on the box it came in. They put their info on the upper back of the doll...but their dolls didn't have strapless gowns and swimsuits. Barbie did. She came in a swimsuit and the info would have looked horrible, so the doll would not have sold well. Since they had to "brand" the doll, what better place to put it than under the swimsuit? A few years later, it became fashionable to simply put the company name and the year on the neck of the doll, with the country of origin on the back...less writing and you could use the doll body more than one year.
