Great fun video again, think you're my favourite pro golfer to watch on here (got to love a bit of the Bad Golf channel). I especially love these sort of gadget and fun ones. I think I may use the ball, just if I just want to be outside and have a bit of casual fun rather than actually 'trying' to play golf. Don't think the stick due to mess and don't want to possibly mess up irons with cutting grooves.

My iron set is from 2012 so i'm just using it to sort of renew the grooves since they have taken a beating and new clubs are just no option right now. I don't consider it cheating since i'm not planning to make them any sharper than the grooves on new clubs

I tried the Polara balls once...they're like hitting the side of a brick wall but watching them correct themselves in mid-flight was lotsa fun. The problem with them is that you lose about 30 yards of carry because of whatever it is that's in them. Would not recommend.

I used the polora balls when I first started playing and I no longer have any. haha they didn't go straight for me but my swing was awful back then and I hadn't watched any of your videos yet. With a really bad slice you will still lose those balls . They did work when I struck the ball well, unfortunately I wasn't doing that often when I was starting out. I may try them again since my game has improved and I'm very curious about the sharpening tool and slick stick.
@mikecueria15893 жыл бұрын
Fun video. No, I would not use a Polara golf ball or slic stik. I have seen other reviews of the Polara golf ball and while it goes straight, as you pointed out, it just falls out of the air and you sacrifice distance. I enjoy working the golf ball and the challenges of doing so, that is what keeps me coming back to the golf course.
@rhull39393 жыл бұрын
It only falls out of the sky if that specific shot would have had a lot of side spin on it. It corrects it, then flies straight and you lose about 15yds with driver. If you hit it well with just backspin the flight is totally normal and you don't really lose anything. They really work. I'll take 15 yards short and on the fairway over 30yds short and in the forest on the right every time. Ha.

This made me bite the bullet and actually get a couple of lessons which obviously helped a lot. I still occasionally try them out and can’t believe the flight of them compared to a normal ball, definitely fall out of the sky. Have you tried the slic stick on an iron? Be interesting to test if it is just the confidence level you feel when standing at the ball. Have a friend doctor one club, and have an undoctored club available as well. They choose for you and hand it to you so you can't see the face.
@Worzeth133 жыл бұрын
The reason why one shot dropped out of the sky like a rock. The Polara balls have an odd dimple pattern to correct ball flight. So they will decrease your carry distance. They fly odd and drop out of the sky if you don't line up the arrow with the direction you are hitting. So hitting them off driver its easy to line up. But then you have to touch the ball and line it up again before every iron hit. Touching the ball every time is illegal unless its winter rules where you have to wipe the ball. They are hard and its like hitting a stone but they do work.
@jamescable15023 жыл бұрын

I wouldn't use that slick stick here in Australia, as the heat would turn it to oil in my pocket and make the head covers all sticky. I usually use a tee to clean out my grooves (is that illegal?) and why would you do this to a new club? If you're cutting shards of metal off your club, how long will it last?. Chapstick costs a £1 or less (does it work the same?), JP :Lan slicstick between £10 and £20. Polara golf balls straighter (at the cost of distance?). All good stuff for debate Matt thank you.
@KMMHL20123 жыл бұрын
With regards to the slip stic, you have to take into consideration that you have a controlled swing. I was encouraged to use vaseline, as a left handed golfer, who swings over the top, all my shots went dead straight to the right, a hard push, it removed the sidespin on the ball, but still couldn't hit a fairway. 😭
@JJones9873 жыл бұрын
Dead straight to the right for a left hander is a pull.
@jimcook41563 жыл бұрын
Fun video. Personally, I would not use the balls because the straight flight characteristics don't overcome the loss of distance...and I need every yard I can get. I might try the grease on the club...mainly out of curiosity, but I doubt I would do that on a regular basis. The groove sharpener though I would use. To me, the first 2 definitely seem like cheating even for casual play. The groove sharpener though seems ok for casual play. I look at it this way...if my playing partners saw me doing any of the 3, would they give me crap? Funky balls and chapstick...I would definitely hear about it. Groove sharpener, I don't think they would think of that as unusual or illegal. I usually use a tee to clean out the dirt. The guys I play with would probably see that tool as similar to using a tee, and not realize that I was actually sharpening the grooves...and I don't think they would care anyway.

Are the groove sharpeners just illegal during a round, or illegal full stop? I've got some old sm7s, I used a sharpener on them and I have to say they felt great afterwards, almost like new. I don't see what is wrong with that. What advantage is gained over somebody who can afford to regularly buy new wedges?
@BandyBorehole3 жыл бұрын
It's fine so long as your grooves conform after you've done it. So they can't be over a certain depth. I sharpened my old wedges with one as they were 20 years old, and was worried about it being illegal, but when I got new wedges this year, with all my hard work, I had come nowhere near the depth of new wedge grooves... So basically, I wouldn't worry unless you're doing it on new wedges

I on occasion will use aiming fluid 🍺. It’s an exact science requiring moderation and control so as to not indulge too much.
