I haven’t seen anyone on YT do a better job at tutorials. Thanks!
@dian3145Ай бұрын
Your tutorials make projects approachable and achievable! The tips and tools (need to get me some of those specialty spacers) along the way to get a professional finished project really set us up for success. I built your concealment end table for my daughter. I was sent the wrong struts, and the company express shipped the correct one the same day. Great people to work with!!!

I enjoy that you are showing another way to make something you previously made. You did a great job pointing out that there are more than one way to do things with the bevel cuts on the top. Many viewers get hung up on the fact they don’t have the fancy green, red, orange, or order to the builder has. I’ve been using my hand saw today and it has been fun and saved r lots of trips from the second floor of my house to my basement shop and no need to don hearing protection! Thanks for all you do. Enjoy some time with your family over the holidays.

As usual a great build brother. I build similar Flag cases with the RFID lock. One issue I ran into is the batteries die and there's no way to access it unless you cut it open. I started putting a removable back piece to make it easier for the customer when they need to be changed. Extra steps but worth it in the end. 😊
@MatthewPeechWoodworkingАй бұрын
The good thing with these locks is that it will give you about 70 warning beeps and opens before it completely dies.

I've made and sold a few of these. I pocket hole everything from the rear face of the back panel. Then just need a pocket hole on the top of each side piece and the bottom (like in the video). Zero need for plugs. Great design and I'm glad you revisited this video. Your instruction style has got so much better over the years

Just curious. What do you get for them?
@dominicchappell1399Ай бұрын
@MrDmorgan52 if you finish them up nicely, you can get around $200 for them... At least in my area. I also add about 3/4 of in inch (maybe a little more) in depth. Everyone that has purchased from me wants to put an AR in it. With the original design, the lid will not close on a standard AR. If there are any accessories on it, that just makes it need to be even deeper. FYI
@alexreid4131Ай бұрын
@@dominicchappell1399curious if after the price of lumber, hardware (gas struts, hinges, rf lock, hooks etc.) foam (that stuff is super pricey!) consumables and your time plus markup…are you getting much profit on a $200 price tag? Thanks for any info on this.
@ItsreallymarcusАй бұрын
@@dominicchappell1399$200? Hell, I have been making these almost exact ones he just made with different locks, paint jobs and wood types that my customers request and I’ve never been under $400, more often between $450-$475.$ 200 you aren’t making any money at all. Crazy I seen this and was shocked. Ive been doing these for 6-8 months lol. Just wild to see peech make a video on the same thing I’ve been doing lol.

Matt, I have a tip for you. When using the Kreg Hinge Jig, if you remove the forstner bit guide assembly, there are two small guides/pilot holes for pre-drilling for the screws for the hinges. I typically have one drill set up with the forstner bit guide assembly, and a second one with the drill bit for the screws. I don't remember the size off hand.

Nicely done Matthew! I can see a black walnut and/or white oak one of these in my future. Wouldn't mind seeing you trick one of these out with all the decorative routing work and the like (i.e., the realm of the possible). I could easily see the customers name engraved in there, now that would add to the wow factor. Hidden rooms, secret compartments, and the like hit so many button.

I refer to a DIY version of the built kind that have a book case on one side. They are pricey. In my case thinking of a second door to a bedroom that is occasional use. Just don’t want a proper door and frame messing up either side of room asthetics.

Matt awesome build for sure! Question about the fob lock. Of the AA batteries die While the door is locked. How do you get in to replace them?
@MatthewPeechWoodworkingАй бұрын
Hey I use one from a company called lock connections- I’ll send you what he has in the description for this item. - If battery life starts to get low, a low voltage alarm will sound to indicate a battery change is necessary. Total battery drainage will result in the lock being unable to lock ensuring you will never have a locked out situation. This lock as an AC port on the side of the body and can be used with an AC power adapter or Power Jack(not included).

@Matthew (and anyone else who wants to chime in), I’m concerned about the fact that the backboard and foam are perfectly vertical. It seems to me that the contents could potentially fall out or be dropped while removing, which presents the risk of an accidental discharge. I wonder how feasible it would be to have an inner backboard the foam is attached to and which would hinge at the top. There would be a spring mechanism of some sort that would push the backboard up from the bottom (because the hinges would be on top), thereby making the backboard assume a 25 degree angle. When the front panel is again closed and locked, it would push the inner backboard back down to assume a vertical position just like the front cover. I’m think that while the foam can be made to fit tight, it could get looser over time, and if it’s too tight, it could be difficult to remove the fire….arm in an emergency when the owner is highly stressed (home invasion, etc.). Anyone have any thoughts on this?
@GodsMan500Ай бұрын
I see in the video on the other channel that you used magnets to hold them in place. That’s a good idea, but I would still prefer having the gun bed be partially horizontal in case my clumsy fingers decide to slip and drop the fire….arm.
