Need tote storage shelves but don't have the room? This mobile storage/organization system transforms to only take up 29 square feet! And the best part, you get to keep all of your wall space!
I designed this system to help solve storage problems. We all use totes or bins to store things... but the problem we run into is that the traditional shelving systems use up all of our precious wall space. Not this one.

I did. This is exactly what I need! After literally decades of trying to make do with various commercially available shelving units which always end up leaving lots of unusable space (read: space for piling things up), I really need a way to store all my shop equipment and accessories protected from sawdust and organized in such a way as to be able to find what I need, when I need it. No more buying multiples of things because I can't find what I need. As a matter of fact, this is also a great way to store all my sewing stuff, craft supplies, and even books!

I DID I did! Love the channel, details of your explanations, and your creativity, Mr. Peach. I don't know how long I have watched or subscribed but it has been quite a while and it has been fun to see the growth of the channel. I had to share an idea that came to me - inspired by your design. You could actually add it to your current design since you used screws for assembly. If you added a plywood or OSB vertical backer to the ends of the cabinets on the inboard side of the legs, then you could add hinges and a latch to the end caps to make a narrow hidden cabinet. You would be making use of the 3+ inches of vacant space at the ends of the cabinets and woukd allow for much more vertical tool storage. I hope Ethan realizes what a gift he is getting by being able to work with you and learn from a hands on perspective. What an opportunitt! Keep up the good work.

@@MatthewPeechWoodworking I did use some of it to build an enclosure for my container garden. I dont do much gardening but need to keep out the deer. The last couple of years had issues with covering for hail. Late summer Texas sun and early freezes. I rough cut down 2x6s to 2x2s using a circular to make supports for the roof. Going to make a frame and add some Green No See Game Fence cloth to just throw up on top as needed. It will still let through. Hopefully it will deflect hail.

@@AscDrew yea that was probably a little optimistic but again it does depend on how big and fancy you build them. That was also only for one shelf too. I bought some wood from home depot a couple days ago for an unrelated project but it was comparable to building one of these shelves and wasn't much over $100. The quality of wood is absolute crap these days. The 2x4s were almost decent but the 2x2, 1x4, and 1x4s were one step above bark. They almost qualified as hockey sticks and twisted stair spindles, were cracked, or had big gouges and chunks missing.

I did Matt and this video just solved three issues for me. I just retired after 47 years of a career. So now I am in the purge of all the crap one collects over the years. I am also an artist so there will be a set of these for art supplies, another in the garage for tools and parts, and finally another as I am planning on converting a 24 foot box truck into a stealth RV set up. This organizes so much stuff effectively I love it. The biggest benefit is the support of the shelves will make the totes last way longer without cracking and such. Thanks so much for the tutorial.

I did! My hubby and I were just talking about how to store my sewing and craft supplies. This would be awesome! There would even be ample space for hanging yardsticks and cutting boards on the outsides of the cabinets. Thanks for the amazing video and idea!

I did. We just bought a new build condo and moved in 3 weeks ago. We have over 60 of the large Rubbermaid storage containers. I built wall shelves in the previous house and took too much wall space. This plan is perfect! Why didn’t I think of this? Anyway thanks so much, as I bought some lumber but hadn’t started building yet. I am changing the original plan and will build many of these units as we need, a few at a time until I have all we need. Thanks, your videos have really been great and inspiring. I have to rebuild a work shop in our new basement and you’ve given me some good ideas. Keep up the good work and consider ideas for a basement small area workshop layout and dust collection system in you next videos this year. 😊👍👍

I DID! I'm not looking for storage bin solutions, but rather brooms, rakes weedeater, leafblower, etc. This has given me a lot of food for thought to "tame" that area of my garage! Thank you for this video! Time to start thinking of modifications now. Gotta go!

I did. Brilliant! Once again Matthew nails it with another practical and useful idea that can apply to nearly everyone. Who doesn't need more storage space in the shop, but can't afford giving up wall space. Headed out to the shop now to start measuring. Thanks Matthew. By the way, I was in the market for a new table saw and was just about to pull the trigger on the S.S. I watched you video on the Harvey and never looked back. That 4hp beast is now set up in my shop and cuts so square and clean and can joint off those edges. Thanks man!

I did. I absolutely LOVE your channel. You break things down for the beginner, like me, so that things make sense as well as showing us how to accomplish certain cuts or results without having massively expensive equipment (which I do NOT have). I recently bought my first set of plans from your Etsy store and plan on getting that built this coming weekend. Looking forward to that build and seeing what you’ve got coming up on your channel.

I did, but no need to respond. Sending positive vibes and gratitude for your work. I used a similar build to add high volume closet storage in a small house. The 24” width is perfect for hanging clothes and with two of them, you essentially get a walk-in closet without losing that space normally committed to “walking”.

I did! Thank you so much for this idea!! I’ve been trying to figure out a space to start woodworking. I have a large storage area on the side of the barn with a lot of shelving and well we actually store things there so it takes up a lot of floor space. This storage unit is perfect. I can store the same amount in a smaller space AND everything will be protected from saw dust in bins and enclosed cabinets. Genius solution ❤

I did: I've built a number of storage racks for our bins/totes before and they work well, but this is another level. I'll be starting tomorrow taking them apart and rebuilding them based on your plans. The problem with mine is that the totes overhang which makes it difficult to put the racks side-by-side like yours. This is going to be an awesome upgrade!
