My Amazing 718 Porsche GT4 Delivery Experience - E3: First Drive

It's time for my first actual drive in the GT4. The car in stock form is pretty legit from the get go and I'm really enjoying it. The weather wasn't the best but I still gave it a really good rip. Even Michele hopped in and took it for a quick drive.

Love the video. Just one minor correction regarding the relative performance of your E92 M3 versus the GT4. You mentioned that the weights were similar, when in fact they’re about 500lbs apart. That’s probably what makes the GT4 feel that much faster.

Matt, First of all, I love your driving videos and this was no exception, but the absolute best part was your wife driving and her commentary! Enjoying the videos Matt. I am in line for both GT4 and 992 GT3 allocation but maybe too far down the list for GT3, waiting to see. GT4 is available now but I gotta wait to see if I can get a 2022 GT3. I live in the Shenandoah Valley and y’all need more curvy roads in your life haha. One thing I gotta say, watching you guys shift with your hand on top of the wheel is the wet is cringe worthy to a driving instructor! Can’t wait to see the next video. Enjoy man.

Congrats man!!! I am VERY interested in hearing your thoughts on mid engine VS rear engine when the weather is dry and you can push both back to back. I have the SS 1LE now and had the 16' M3 before it and the 718 GT4 in PDK form will be my SS 1LE replacement next year. BTW, the SS 1LE is SO much better in every performance matrix over the F80 M3 san straight line.

Wonderful video, I’ve just picked up a white one of these and am blown away by it. It’s early days-but just like you I cannot understand the criticisms of the gearing and the noise. The whole car reminds me of my old E46 M3 CSL (which I wish I never sold) the induction snarl is guttural and you have to rev the nuts off it! Anyhow thanks again and keep safe😊

The pre turbo 911 GTS also had that awesome sound symposer sound as well , I miss that sound so bad . My 16 Spyder doesn’t have the symposer either but with the top down it’s sounds exactly the same , I love it !!!

Love it, Matt! Awesome car. Looking forward to more content on it. Kinda makes sense the GT3 RS will not easily pull away on track from the GT4, as it only has about 30 or so ft-lbs of torque advantage and imagine is a bit heavier. Would need a long straight to see the hp difference come into play, wouldn’t it?

Yeah... that exhaust note sounds very good as-is. The tone at least... would love for it to be a little louder, and I'm sure the tone would be even more fantastic sounding. Something about a precision made Porsche that really attracts me to them. Beautiful engineering like how Apple products are made. I've got a 2013 MacBook Pro and it's still so beautiful to me, still looks pristine like the day I got it. Now I just need to get a Porsche to match :D I'm ready for my first drive as well!

Gear sets make a difference in the style of driving compared, no need for a shorter gear set in Florida. Pretty flat. Beautiful car.

I agree with you on the break in, porsches are meant to be driven. I think one important thing is that you aren’t abusing the car, you’re giving it some nice revs a few times but otherwise pretty respectful to it as I know you’re just like me - obsessed ahah. They probably right that clause in the manual for idiots that Rev the guts from cold etc enjoy your new car man! It’s supposed to be used! Especially with proper care and protection :£

I am tuned in to see the gt4 vs gt3 difference. As a gt4 owner I am always wondering if it makes sense to step up to gt3. Ps.... the only place I got a rock chip on my gt4, was the area behind the door, ahead of the back wheels. A rock must have come off my front wheel and dinged the paint real good.

It is an infinitely more refined and balanced car. What you’ll really notice is when you work on the GT4. The level of engineering is unrecognizable in comparison to the GT350.

Blast in it immediately! The factory already did off the production line. I PDI’d my e92 m and then went out and ripped it to 160. The whole be soft on it is a marketing gimmick to get newbs to not crash their cars. Rings seat best on loaded decel, that’s when the rings are sucked out and pushed against the walls to seat in best

Gentian Blue? I don’t know if this is the same in the USA but in the UK if you haven’t bought a Porsche before then you’re not allowed to buy a GT4. This only leaves the 718 Cayman 4.0 GTS to buy instead. My father is considering replacing his Audi RS3 for the 718 Cayman 4.0 GTS however hasn’t decided what he wants. His daily car for work remains the VW Golf GTI TCR which he also enjoys.

Love your channel. Check Unobtanium Welding when you look for exhausts. Best craftmanship you will find and fully custom. They do antidrone pipes so you can have a race exhaust (full straight) and no drone. Get the cake and eat it too!

I’ve owned a Boxster S for 7 years and just went out to the garage to see if it had the same vertical line - it does! Never noticed it before so you can be pretty sure it will not be a problem ;-)

GoSeeDoTravels I thought the US cars had no filters, just a hollow canister. This blue is much darker and deeper than Sapphire. More red / purple in it. Way richer looking. Deeper. Sapphire was a bit.....washed out.
