Very true, if you keep on top of it the engine bay needs very little maintenance. After I wash the car, I blow out any water that gets under the hood and this blows off any dust and dirt at the same time before it gets a chance to build up. Car Pro Perl at 1:3 is a great dressing too.

Boy, that car is pretty clean to begin with. But not a bad subject to work on. As far as power clean for the engine bay, if it had been really grimy I think 2:1 would have been fine. But, as good of shape as it was in, I probably would have nerfed it down to 5:1 or even 10:1 as power clean is really strong stuff. Personally, I've been using Meguiar's new D107 Citrus APC Plus even though I have a gallon of power clean sitting there. The D107 is incredible particularly at 5:1 or 10:1 on engines. Hyper dressing at 2.5:1 works great for me to land somewhere in the middle shine-wise. Enough to be slightly shinier than naked, but not quite 'used car lot' shiny. I also tend to blow down and mop up the pools of water as I've found leaving the engine wet can cause a streaky look. Glad to see you use the PW on the engine. It's really not a huge deal especially on modern engines and as long as you use common sense it's not going to cause a problem. Especially with a 40 degree tip at distance and keeping moving.

If I'm too afraid to use any solvents... is it fine with just water and agitation? Also does the water have to be pressurised? Can't use a garden hose with a spray nozzle?

A pressure washer is much more efficient requiring less product use and also uses a whole lot less water.

HyperDressing is probably top 3 items I've picked up from your channel. Did a friend's STI with 35K on the odo, and after a mild scrub like you did and HyperDressing the engine looked mint. My GTI engine bay with 25K, looks as good as any new one on the lot. Now convince Meguiar's to sell 16 & 32oz bottles because a gallon is WAY too much for the average consumer.

Matt, here is my experience with water under the hood....... If the car is relatively new, the rubber seals, sealants, tapes etc. are still "elastic" & still doing their jobs. On the other hand, even a well maintained engine bay on an older model has deteriorating rubber, plastic and tape that is unraveling - hence NOT a good idea to use pressurized water! I've even seen pressure washers destroy the hood insulation on older vehicles. Like you said, it's BEST to maintain - that way no heavy duty cleaning is really ever needed. Still a light sprinkle with fresh water might not be so bad - but in older cars I'd definitely avoid pressurized water. Just my opinion and YMMV.
@kenny02715525056 жыл бұрын
Could you do the same with diluted CARPRO Perl? Seeing as hyperdressing is no longer available? Just wanna touch up my m3 engine bay, the engine cover and the rubber seals are starting to look a bit tacky!!!

Wonder my if the buckets, chair/stool, bucket roller(wheel add-on), & 32-64oz spray are offered on your online store, & if not, suggestions on some durable good quality products? Also, have you ever tried those electric spinning cleaning brushes? Have been asked & asked about them & I haven't ever used, wondering if you've tried(I personally think kinda a waste of money....have about 10 reasons why, but could be wrong). Lastly, at home, landlord removed water softener & filtration system, & isn't replacing. So, question now have is......any suggestions on how to avoid the hard water along with the spots & impurities that I now have, when washing car etc.... Since don't own house not gonna install new system; but any other "budget" options that could help, cuz I'm coming up empty on ideas (that don't cost over 2k for a mobile system & can't afford right now. Do have compressors, pneumatic tools, pressure washer, etc....just lost water softener & filtration system, long unbelievable story)? Thank you🙂 Cheers, A
