It wasn't pretty, but given the angles; it also wasn't horrible. I'd have anchored to a tree and had the Banana as safety/second anchor for the transitions. Otherwise: @12:50 check out those pimpin lights on Rudy's chassis! Bawlin! Added... were those front wheels ... bald in places? like completely no-tread/tread?

Quick Tip: I use a Kettle Pot weight to 'ground' my Winch Lines when pulling. You can run the line right through the handle, or use a large D-Ring, since I have a mix of Steel Cables and Soft Lines on my Winch(es). You can store it outside the cab, by just hanging it off your rear Receiver. It keeps it handy and from banging & rattling around, plus keeps the mud outside. Also seems to reduce annoying tail gaiting tourists as it swings around back there. LOL. Hope to see you out there some day soon.

This recovery was pretty amazing! The whole time watching I was thinking that truck was 4x4 as well, and disbelief hit when I heard "it's 2wd". Your channel has quickly become one of my favorites because of not only the recoveries, but how Matt listens to AND applies other people's ideas, how everyone comes together and works as a team to do some absolutely mind-blowing recoveries and how even my youngest kids can get into these videos. Rudy has really come into his own the last year and a half or so and is one amazing fabricator, Lizzy is absolutely bad to the bone and Ed is one of my favorite people on the ol' interwebs. I think I'm gonna need therapy pretty soon if this keeps up but there's something really interesting about watching you guys figure out all these extractions in the most impossible locations! Best one so far is the 4x4 wagon train with Paul's dad's wrecker pulling the Jeep Wrangler up those hills and you all were tied together and made it out in record time. If I had bet money on that one being a total fail I would have lost the farm because I didn't think there was a snowball's chance in hell you were getting that one out. @@hgj2019 I've often wondered about this. Matt worries about the weight of a winch, then carries one in the boot. Granted this system means it can be used from either end of the banana, and while carrying it the weight is on the back tyres instead of the front. I'm not sure if that is better or worse. Also makes it an option to leave at home. But while carrying it, you are still carrying the weight.

If your son wants to use a winch, the I’d suggest a hydraulic powered winch. They use the power steering pump for hydraulic pressure. Hummers we had in the Marines had them. I put one on my 93 F250 HD 4x4. They are about 2000 but they never overheat while you use them unlike electric winches.

Miles of deep sand on that road. Mostly further down, but right there is was plenty soft. I did this road on my bike. The part right in there where the truck went off is super fun. All the turns are banked out by SXSs, so on a bike it was like a roller coaster. Like some other viewers, I was thinking it would be better to go out straight ahead, but Matt shows why he stays safe and stays in business. Nothing like experience and being there. Well done.

Matt, you are so blessed to have Rudy and be able to work with him and see him everyday. I have 4 sons and we just buried the second one yesterday. A parent should not have to live longer than their children. We have lost 2 sons and 1 daughter. So cherish every moment that you have with Rudy. He seems to be a great young man and you two have a very special bond. Be careful out there. Fondly, Jerry, Coos Bay, OR 😎👍

some thing to remember it only doubles the winch power if the rope is parallel with each other. the less wrap on the snatch block the less effectives of the pulling power.

Pro tip: a short section of PVC slid over the gas shock will drop and hold the hatch when it's opened. To close, just move the PVC so that the tube can slide in it.
