You guys are the best. Not to get into too much, but my wife just had a stroke recently and its been difficult (difficult that I want her to know it will be okay, we will get through this). Sometimes I forget that I just need to sit down and unwind for a minute. Sat down at my desk and remembered I really liked your channel. I don't know if its your calm nature, or how things just don't ever seem to get you and the Team too worked up, but your channel is truly therapeutic for me. That Jeep/AMC inline six is truly one of the greatest engine designs ever. Nothing flashy or muscular or what have you - they just take tons of abuse and live forever. Reminds me of the old Chrysler slant six - another damn near perfect design for what it was intended to do. -Ed on the Ridge

Also, the Chevy inline and Ford inline 6's for that matter. I had an example of both of those in my personal fleet in the 80's, a '74 Chevy Nova very base 4 door with the 250 inline 6, took a beating but kept on ticking. The 200CI version of the 170/200CI inline 6 in a another base version car, a '78 Fairmont. The basic car was nothing to write home about, the motor, though a tad heavy for its size and caused the front end to plow badly on those vehicles, was decent motor, despite a bad carburetor that I had to replace and had a bad cat I think (partially plugged I assumed) as it could barely get out of its own way without taking its own sweet time, was at least reliable. Both were GSA service vehicle fleet purchases by my late father. Though I would agree, outside of the AMC 6, the leaning tower of power was the best of the remaining US 3 inline sixes out there at the time. My late parents got 145K out of our '64 Dodge 330 with the 225CI slant 6 when we finally sold it in 1977, running still, albeit with a used transmission that we replaced the original with in 1973 and a bit of a rust bucket as it was purchased in Jacksonville Fl new by us, but spent a year and a half back in Jacksonville Fl in the late 60's before spending the rest of its life out here on the west coast, but also spent time out of the salt environment both in the west coast, but also in the SW betwee 1967-1969. We were military so hence a lot of traveling 1964-1969, with the yearly trips to eastern Washington up until the transmission replacement after he retired out here in Washington St in 1970 so it just stayed in town until we sold it.

I've always read that the AMC engines were cast with more Nickel in the engine block which made it stronger/more durable. I know this was true before the Chrysler buyout in 1987.

The old Chrysler slant six could be run without coolant because of the surface area exposed to air.....One tough engine.

@@lvsqcsl I hadn't heard that but we did have one overheating issue one spring when we drove to a small town in SW Washington state to pick up at least one of my 3 older sisters from a church conference and I can't recall if we had the issue heading to the church or after having picked up the girls, this being in the early 70's but I recall we had to stop and get the radiator filled back up as I was a little kid then. This being in the old Dodge wagon too.

I can't think of any OHV inline six cylinder engines, manufactured in the last 60-70 years, that weren't considered to be good engines. By their architecture, a inline six cylinder engine is very easy to balance, which makes for a smooth running, long lasting engine. That same architecture is why they aren't used in many passenger vehicles anymore. The V-engines are much more practical from a packaging standpoint.

Ok, I just have to make a comment here. This video is great at showing Lizzie. She is always looking at what is going on. One can always see her thinking about what is happening. She is more than ready to jump in and help when there is something to be done. Lizzie is a Keeper. I would really hope that she is coming to a love of this type of work. The sand seems to be a double edged sword. It's a blast to rip around in, creates great jumping terrain. On the other hand, it's a blast to rip around in and makes great jumping terrain creating incredible jumps with incredible landings, soft enough to rip components off and at the same time cushioning the landings that go poorly. Glad no one was hurt.

The new tunnel looks nice and big . Have had to go thru several of them at the Hatfield and McCoy trails in West Virginia. It’s been 3 years since I have gone. Gorgeous scenery down there . You can ride on the roads down there. Rode into a Wendy’s for lunch one day ,that was a first for us. Take care be safe

We try to hit the Hatfield and McCoy once a year. About a five hour drive for us to get there, but like you say once we turn off the truck key and file it, we never use it again till we leave. It is fabulous to go from trail system to trail system and town to town in machine!! Beautiful trails and skill levels for all! Also, like it seems on these vids, the trail community of folks is mostly great.

It takes a lot of humility to admit you are stuck when you are the guy who is pulling everyone else out; but I think it was just expedient to get the help in this case. Too often, when we are stuck, we don't want to admit it and then get ourselves into an even bigger mess. Look at some of the extractions on the beach near the lake when people with capable vehicles get BURRIED by trying too long and then it is really difficult to get them out. Way to go Matt!

HI Matt ☺️ Have you ever thought about attaching a pivoting bar to the rear of that trailer? It's hard to describe but it would save you heaps of time when wheels are all mangled and don't follow the ramps. The winch strap would go over the bar (locking in) and hook on to the raptor or razor. The idea being that the winch would lift the front of the stranded vehicle up and over the back edge of the trailer until the rear wheels hit the ramps. Do you guys have an email address I could send a sketch through to?
