You made me realize just how special my M26 is and next to that the repairman I go to hahah. The light feeling you describe when the instrument is well taken care of is a very special comfortable feeling when playing. Thank you for explaining it so clearly and beautifully.

My late brother sold his 1929 Conn Tenor to Charles Lloyd in the early nineties after his was stolen in Europe. He played a Selmer Mark VI until he bought my brothers Conn. We saw Lloyd in concert in the nineties and my brother asked Charles what he thought of the Selmer and he said they are like a “ typewriter “. I think he meant the sound of the Conn and the way you can bend and shape it’s sound.

Do you think the CONNQUEROR followed by the CONNSTELLATION were the best saxophones made in USA? Thank you for your excellent and informative videos !!!

I recently purchased a used tenor sax with a "like new" vintage A Gigliotti 7G* tenor mouth piece. What would it be worth and as an intermediate player, should I be using it?

Hey Matt. I have found a 26m that I am considering purchasing. I am hoping to check it out in person within the next few days. The current owner has notified me that a couple of the pads and rollers were replaced. Besides that the pictures look as if the instrument is in near mint condition...obviously ill know for sure once i see it in person. They are asking 3,500 dollars for it. If I play it and really like it, do you think this is a fair price or should I aim lower since some of the original rollers are missing. Just curious about your thoughts. Thanks!

Early in this video you say that the 10M overview should be watched first, yet in the "Open Source Saxophone Project" playlist, the 10M overview comes later. Any reason for the inconsistency?

not that I know of. youtube puts stuff in reverse chronological order.

are the parts interchangeable?
@StohrerMusic11 жыл бұрын
some parts are the same from the 30M/26M to the 10M/6M, but most are not. but even if parts are the same from one horn to the next, the parts are not "interchangeable" without key fitting- in the same way you can't just take a piston from one car and slap it into another. the tolerances are too fine, so while it would work to (for example) take a 10M palm D and put it on a 30M, it would still involve work to make it fit properly. but most parts of the 30M and 26M are not identical to their counterparts in the 10M and 6M.

hello my 30M is missing one of these little balls that you unscrew to adjust the keys, is there anywhere I can get one replacement? thanks
@StohrerMusic9 жыл бұрын
+Daniele “Dave” Drammauta assuming you are talking about the adjusting screws (unique to the 30M/26M), you will need to have it made. If you are talking about the tiny locking screws, you can buy them from Ferree's Tools.
@ItalianDaves9 жыл бұрын
+Matt Storer thanks Matt, it's one of those spheres that contain the adjustment thing, the top one of the 2 that are on the upper bar that moves when you press C and B. thanks
@StohrerMusic9 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, how did that come off? Those are silver soldered to the key. You'll need to make a replacement.
@ItalianDaves9 жыл бұрын
+Matt Storer I don't think it's soldered. the other one is kept in place with a pivot screw, I think you are supposed to take it out to adjust the height as you describe on the video.
@ItalianDaves9 жыл бұрын
+Matt Storer if you go to 6.04 on your video, you are exactly placing your finger on it. it' not the sphere with the adjustment, it's the sphere on top of it, on the upper bar. thanks
