Matt you ain’t wearing 13 pods 😂
@areekalaan5 ай бұрын
I think it's less about the weight and more about the balance. Having the marker in one hand makes you uneven and the full pod pack lags behind the motion of your torso. It's trying to go right while your body is trying to go left and as soon as it catches up your body is already going the other direction. Backpackers prefer high and tight center of gravity for hiking. The packs are designed this way and then they're packed with the heavy items closer to the body. This increases mobility and decrease fatigue.

He moves roughly 24% slower, running the 40 yard dash almost a full second slower than his unladen time. Running 5.4 seconds with a full 30.5 lbs on him is still cooking. His unladen time is on par with an NFL Receiver. I ran a 4.33 in high school, and I can tell you it's no joke. Pushing for that speed for 40 yards I always felt like I just ran a marathon and I would be pacing around with my hands on my head for 15 to 30 minutes recovering after a good time 😅

@MazzBCD4 ай бұрын
I think its really crazy that paintball companies dont think about the weight distribution on the hips. Hips are not load bearing, shoulders and backs are. Its why you see all of the police depts moving away from traditional leather belts to H harness vest and outer armor. Weight pods with shoulder straps make more sense and would assist in better speed and movement. It would also relieve pressure from a sinched pod harness that can cause nerve compression.
@HE-1624 ай бұрын
It’s not that they haven’t thought about weight distribution, it’s that the place that makes sense to carry pods is the only place that makes sense. The way pods are carried is also the only way that makes sense. Other solutions have been tried over the years, but they don’t make sense. You can’t take the weight off the hips using a chest rig, as the amount of jumping and diving players do means the pack will be loose on the body. Cops and soldiers don’t have this problem, and their gear stays in place thanks to gravity and light body compression. They’re also not diving and sliding and jumping like a paintball player is. For pods to be accessible, they need to be on the lower back. For them to stay put, the pack needs to be compressed tight against the lower torso/hips. As soon as you start to support some of that weight using a shoulder rig, you’re working against that torso compression and suddenly packs are gonna be breaking loose and sliding up peoples bodies, and rotating while they do so. Not everything needs to be optimized to the best general physics principle, because what physics says is best for most situations is often not what’s best for edge cases. Paintball is an edge case, where the demands of the sport as aren’t always going to favor the biophysics of nature.

The problem is most paintball players wouldn't wear a harness even though (as you correctly say) it is the much better solution.

Hips most definitely ARE load bearing. Most backpackers and infantry folks will tell you that your back should NOT be carrying load. You want weight distribution on your shoulders and hips, NOT your back.

Playing speed ball is weird... I do not see how there's any fun in it. No gun skills, unlimited ammo, very simple strategies, and little to no true climax. If there was limited ammo (100-200 balls) and aiming was apart of it, it would be more interesting. Woods ball is so much better than speed ball, far cheaper, sharpening useful skills, and uses the idea behind paintball guns to a much better standard. Speed ball is just lazer tag, except way more expensive and skills involved.

In 10v10 we play 12 minute match on field large than a football field. You get points for bodies alive and for eliminating the other team. So both of those mean you want to play strategically and not die so you need alot of ammo so you can shoot far and last the whole 12 minutes.
