No one ever stood up for me when I was verbally or physically abused- there were times that his friends were present. I had already been taken away from my family and alienated from my friends. Thank goodness that part of my life is over. It makes me relieved to see that things have changed for women today!!! I went through emotional abuse for 14 years before I woke up and realized I didn't deserve it!! It made me depressed you basically think your no good!! You believe what the abuser says about you!! After a while it makes you have no laughter no emotions except scared and sad all the time!! When I finally divorced my husband and got away from him I became strong!! I never knew I had that kind of strength in me and when I met a guy the next year it took me a long time to believe him when he would call me beautiful because I was always put down by my husband!!! My daughter would never have taken that abuse. Not only was she very proud but she also had two black belts. As for my wife, I was 36 and she was 28 when we got married. I had no social life growing up because I wasn't allowed to have my weekends off- I went to church. I was an alter server for years, baptized, communed and so on all without my consent.
