We cut our trailing drone problem by about 90% with a new simple rule: if you don't cut off cleanly with the band, you strike right back in and play a solo. You'd be surprised how effective that policy is.

I feel like this video is a glimpse into the world/mind of all pipe majors when they drive home from many, many practices. =)

I got a little rant-y on this one...

I can start without issues. I cant stop on a dime. But whether it's my age or my mental ability or both I never have a mistake free performance. EVER. The only exception to this might be AG but that's only because it's dead simple and even then I will get hung up on my pacing.

Mistakes come in magnitudes. I don't really care if an E doubling turns into a single G grace note or an E grace note is played as a G grace note. Playing a B when you need to play a C? That's a big deal, and even an uninformed audience member will now something went astray...

What's a good, or the best way to strengthen the face while playing. Does longevity come simply by playing or is it more technique. Some days I do well other days I can last about 2-3 songs and I feel like my face is rubber.

The only real answer is playing more. It takes time to build up the facial muscles. You’ve got this!

Probably the only video out of over 300 where I raise my voice... It was a frustrating practice!
