Just find it ridiculous that my son's Tacoma can go 345,000 miles being beaten, hauling loads all the time off-road and has never done anything to the engine or transmission, but American manufacturers can't make a decent small/midsize truck. The only Canyon/Colorado that didn't have massive transmission issues is the 2.5, 6 speed.

I bought a used 2018 chevy colorado v6 with the 8 speed transmission. 104,000 miles. Immediately noticed the famous shuddering. Took it in and they replaced the torque converter and flushed the transmission. Lucky i had an extended warranty. 4,300 they had to pay out. Hoping it doesn't come back.

I bought a 2018 Colorado the day before Christmas eve. 3 days later I started feeling the shutter. It's the torque converter. I bought a 2 0z. Bottle of Shudder fix for less than 20 bucks from Autozone. Added it, and haven't had a single problem since. The Oem fluid allows too much friction. And this magic potion breaks it down just enough to fix it. No clue how. And No, I don't work for the company. Next step was complete flush from the dealership. And then I guess a new transmission. Lol.

I have a 2014 Camaro 2LS, with the 6l50 transmission I believe. It had this shudder from around 110-120k miles. Took it into the Chevrolet dealership, and they said “torque converter clutch took a dump” and they had to replace that along with an entirely new transmission. Parts and labor was around $4k. Had a warranty through the bank I financed through, only cost me a $500 deductible 😅

Colorado from 2017 to 2019 or 2020 had this problem. I guess after doing research,I found out that in Florida was a class action lawsuit against GM . The Silverado trucks had this issue. I took my Colorado to the dealer. The dealer was hesitant about and more when I mentioned the lawsuit. In the end, they fix my truck. These trucks had the wrong oil. But they changed the transmission oil and reprogrammed the transmission according to them. Lucky me, my truck was still under powertrain warranty when it happened at 30,000 miles.

Have you had any issues since the fix now?
@hotrodfeguy9 ай бұрын
The actual problem is the main pressure valve in the transmission. It fails. Everything else you do is just buying time. Unless you fix the valve it's going to come back. I'm actually pulling my transmission to fix it before it trashes the pump and more stuff. Trans go tow & pro shift kit is the fix. Hopefully this information helps someone in the future. If you catch it early all you need is the kit.
@pucktoplay1 Жыл бұрын
Do you think the lift kit roasted the transmission since it has been questioned as not being the right transmission for a truck but rather a sedan?

I'm in Sussex county NJ. My 2017 Colorado has just under 42,000 miles and just started to get the shudder. Which dealer did you go to for the fix? I actually bought mine used in 2019 from Novak Motors in Lebanon NJ. They are an off lease company. I could take it there but it's a 50 minute drive and a Chevy dealer would probably be more familiar with the issue. When mine shudders it almost feels like your going over a rumble strip.
