When I was a kid my Dad would often stop in to visit Maud and Everett on his way to Digby. They were always happy to see us, and always very kind.

I just love every documentary no matter how short on Miss Maud's life and her creativity. If you haven't seen the movie "Maudie" yet, pls do. It stars Sally Hawkins as Maudie and Ethan Hawke as Everett. It's beautiful, sad and very poetic.

I like them. The naivety and childlike manner in which these beautiful paintings are done, adds a certain charm to them. There's nothing pretentious about them, I see only pure and effortless beauty in their simplicity. They're painted in a very innocent and guileless manner. Very pleasing to look at.😊❤🌺

I first knew about Maud from an article in MacLeans magazine many years ago..Her life is an interesting story..Lance Woolaver has written a book about her titled”Christmas with Maud Lewis”…a few years ago I visited an art gallery in Nova Scotia that has a permanent collection of her work displayed..as I recall her house was moved there also…she painted everything with her art…considering her disabilities & impoverished life she always had a bright & happy outlook as is evident in her paintings…

Not sure if she had any art training or not, but she apparently had an eye for perspective. Beautiful art. Even with debilitating health issues. Reminds me of Joni Erickson Tada.

From what I know, Maud did not have formal art training, she learned to paint from her mother. Thank you for mentioning Joni Erickson Tada. I would like to create a biography video about her someday. Both women are so inspiring 💛
