Minor Lore Correction: Baptiste knew mauga was alive, he used the immortality field to make sure the explosion would severely injure, but not kill Mauga. Also Mauga uses the big silly goofy reinhardt-esque personality as a front, keeping his more cunning and malicious side on the down low.

If I recall correctly, Baptiste used the prototype Immortality Field to make sure he survived, not Mauga. He just knew Mauga survived cause he was no longer there after the explosion, and because it's Mauga we're talking about. Add to that that in game, in an interaction with Sombra she tells him Mauga is still looking for him. So ye, he knows Mauga is still alive.

Correction to your correction (and as the other person already stated), he used the immortality field to save himself. his reason for thinking mauga was still alive was just cause he couldn’t find him afterward

tip: the enemies don’t have to be set on fire by Mauga for him to get crits. So Ashe’s dynamite and Torbs Molten Core will give him crits. (Assuming they didn’t change it from the weekend he was playable and I’m not going insane). So using them can help Mauga keep the enemy on fire without him having to switch guns every nano second at range

Critical hits in general give him overhealth but when they are burning their whole body becomes a critical zone instead of just the head which is more difficult to hit.

You know for a science bro, Marco failed to mention a very crucial part of mauga. His charge is immune to all CCs. It can only be stopped by sombra's hack and it can't damage orisa when fortified. She acts like a wall to him. You can cancel the charge normally or at the right time before you slam for a small amount of momentum. You can even manually slam. And the cage fight can be used defensively to stop enemies from capturing the point

not sure about the last bit cause his cage can be accessed from outside and then traps them in. they just can't get out, so technically they can capture the point, they would just be stuck in the trap

Btw that surgery also gave Mauga a cybernetic heart which he then later down the line decided to get a 2nd one. You can see them from the two cybernetic things on his chest and which is why he says "Two hearts pumping" on *cardiac* overdrive. He is literally a heart attack and unlike roadhog does not need to *take a breather* . I'm sorry I'll go jump into the lava on samoa now.

I like how in his background he was a tall, skinny guy with hair like Samson. Weirdly, him having two hearts makes a lot of sense- bodybuilders die early due to heart issues so having two to power his massive form would prevent this. Look at Rich Piana for an example of a dude who was just too big for his heart to handle

One thing i heard you didn’t point out. The charge isn’t stopped by any cc. As you can see in the beginning there. It wasn’t affected by Sigma’s ult. So basically. The only thing that can stop the charge is death

IMO Mauga is a perfectly balanced tank he CAN be killed if you just play smart and go for his supports and he HIMSELF can be a MENACE and almost feel UNSTOPPABLE if played correctly

A big thing left out is that his charge is *unstoppable* , so yes he's a fortified train coming your way (but not the massive german in rocket propelled armored suit???). This means he can run through ultimates (my guy does not care if you shatter, choo choo!) and so he can run through cage fight. Cage fight does cancel movement abilities though as mentioned meaning once your in you wont get out but if you need to get past it on the outside choo choo by. Btw cage fight stays down after death so dont be afraid to hold a team from getting to point with a sacrifice. On top of that bap is evil as he can throw a lamp on the outside of the cage, leaving you with 5 seconds of immortality unless someone on the outside destroys it.

The moment I saw the ult I saw something crazy for taking objective when full team is on. Kitsune -> Mauga run and slam w/Mei and Soldier behind him -> Cage Fight + Mei Ult -> Visor w/ Mercy Pocket. Overkill AF but WHO CARES?!?!?!. I call it: The Death Cage.

here is another tips when using his charge, similar to doomfirst charge punch , you can cancel at same time press jump, with correct timing, you can get enough momentum to carry foward, instead of slamming or you standing still after cancel the charge

I found that he works pretty well in Dive. You just try and and flank the enemy healers or just rush them, yes you will probably die but in most scenarios you’ll win the team fight with 1-2 kills of your own.

actually why mauga doesnt have armor because he was cybernetically and genetically been augmented by moira after a bomb injury its why he has two hearts and why his forearms are carbon black because that isn't some sleeve thats actual synthetic muscle so its why he's so able to take soo much punishment is due to his augmentations
