Dale, I am "house sitting" my 1st pair of Truman Moc Toes in the Black Shrunken Bison. I am really digging the profile and looking forward to another Truman Moc Toe boot on the 20 Last. I learned of Truman by way of... by way of... watching your KZbin boot reviews. I appreciate that you acknowledge the impact that your videos and the community's comments have on these boot brands. You went to Maui at the right time of year where it’s green. When it’s harvest season and everything is dry…. not so flattering. Now that Lahaina burned down it will never be the same, unfortunately. So much historic spots on top of it being the main tourist area on the island. You were lucky to see it when you did if it was before the fires.

As usual, great job Dale. Do you know why the selection at Truman has narrowed so much and if they are going to broaden out the boot line again ? Right now there are no upland Mocs available but I agree with you, they are one of Vince’s best designs. Regards and be well.

Great review! I would like to get your thoughts on the "D" width (only width currently offered on Truman's Shrunken Bison Moc Toe) I do not own any Truman boots but intend to order Truman Shrunken Bison Moc Toe when they are available. If possible, I'd like to get the right size on my initial order. Truman CS informs me that their 20 last fits more like an "E" width. I can wear an 8.5 in a EE width and, on some brands, an E. Truman Customer Service suggested that I may want to order the boot in a size 9 to get the width that I need. I have a very high instep and generally get the widest width that I canwhen ordering other make boots. This review makes me think you may have a similar situation to mine. Any advice? Thanks.

I use to love Truman Boots but now that everything is first come first serve drops and my specific sizing needs I just cant get a pair. I've emailed them and asked about just making me some pairs and whatever it costs is fine but they aren't interested. So unless you're sitting by the computer waiting for a pair to drop in exactly what you want and your sizing you won't be able to get any anymore. Its a shame.

Yes Truman has been shifting more toward stocking boots as opposed to making them to order, it’s definitely a hard line to balance!! Do you need extra wide widths?

It all depends on the terrain but a wedge sole for dry/arid conditions and long distances is certainly my recommendation right now!

Do hardcore boot aficionados recommend drenching a boot and walking it dry for break in and fit? I’d obenhaufs (sp?) or bees wax the shit out of all of those.

Getting them wet definitely helps with the break in, but soaking them / drenching them in conditioner will inhibit the leather’s natural patina process. Ultimately there is no wrong answer though🤩
