One month after the deadly Maui wildfires, displaced residents are still struggling while government failures go unanswered. This independent investigation exposes the insufficient response by Maui officials before, during, and after the disaster.
In this eye-opening documentary, we delve deep into the devastating wildfire that struck Maui County, exposing the critical mistakes made by local government. We shed light on their failure to sound the siren system, the disregard for early warnings about wildfire dangers in West Maui, and the shocking instances of police blocking residents' escape routes.
But that's not all - we also highlight the ongoing struggles of displaced residents who have been unable to return home for over a month. The repercussions are staggering: skyrocketing unemployment rates and a hesitant tourist industry costing the islands economy millions per day. With a lack of transparency, conspiracy theories fill up social media channels.

It wasn't until about 5 years after our fire that I started to hear stories of people who stayed and defended their homes from a wildfire. When I left, I didn't see a single firetruck in my area, they were either all defending the towns or had set up a post miles away to watch the fire burn so it didn't get any closer to the Big Tree State Park. So they let it burn my area down. The few people who were crazy enough to stay and defend their homes on their own, were told if they left they couldn't come back. So the story goes. But less than two miles away our little grocery stayed open throughout and was not touched by fire. So it was like they were methodically letting some areas burn and making absolutely sure other areas were protected. I do not feel very safe needless to say with this philosophy. Less safe than ever knowing they just let our area burn and wouldn't let people back if they needed to get food. As they weren't letting anyone into the RED ZONE except the people whose homes didn't burn I guess. People aren't talking so it is very odd. There was no warning either, of any kind, it was pretty much you were lucky if someone down the hill could see the raging fire and called you before the telephone lines went up in flames. The few people who saved their homes moved away or have passed on. If people don't see how horrific these fires are and permanent life altering change they make, it goes beyond anything you can imagine. There is nothing more horrifying than losing your home.

@@JonathanPetramala You're doing a disservice to those lost by not looking into the facts which people are calling a conspiracy theory. It isn't a theory at all it's criminal conspiracy and saying it's incompetence is giving these criminals a pass on mass murder. You're complicit at this time. Yes the people need immediate help but the truth is what will set everyone free so that the Natives can counter the agenda (2030-50, Build Back Better, WEF) otherwise this will get blamed on something else (like "climate change" or an attack by some "foreign force" until the next attacks shifts our focus away from Maui) when it's domestic plants working for the U.N and various other groups working to control every country. It’s shocking to me how many people in Hawaii are willing to just let this go as a natural disaster. I totally understand there are things that need to be done to take care of people right now, but there’s just no way this was a natural wildfire. I live in Arizona. How do wildfires not burn trees? The fact is there were a lot of things that were blue that did not burn. That’s a fact corroborated by multiple videos by multiple people. Then I think about the agenda. Behind the green mask. Rosa Koire. If you listen to her videos, it’s eerie the similarities and what she was talking about in 2012 and what happened in Maui. If you open your mind and listen to what some people are calling conspiracy theories, it makes sense why so many incompetent people were put into positions of power. I think back to Covid when my common sense told me something wasn’t right and it turns out now three years later I am finding out my instincts were spot on. So I don’t doubt my intuition anymore. I don’t care if people think it’s about my politics I know better. I understand people need to heal, and I also understand that people better unite and stand together against the corruption that is our entire government before it’s too late. Trying to pretend like it’s nobody’s fault it’s just like saying it’s too difficult to believe that the obvious might be true. If we live in a country where we can’t ask questions, then we are not free. When there are too many coincidences you have to stop being passive and start being realistic. Be careful out there. Thank you for continuing to report on this. ❤😊

@fliss851 and that is completely understandable.😢 Shock. Fear. Trauma. Anger. Grief. Denial in some cases to keep mind from being overwhelmed with such heavy 😢 and emotion. Survival. Understand complex and chronic post trauma. Sharing Aloha with everyone is so extra important right now because we can't know where someone is emotionally at any given time, what trauma they may be coping with in a moment. Responses. However, having given all this understanding, I hace only heard very reasonable and clear minded people who are questioning what they hear vs what they saw and know. Everyone I see who is legit and who has shared are all in question of it. Just watched another long live podcast last night where people are asking questions because it doesn't appear normal and from what they know about temp and fires, it doesn't add up to natural at all. This much we know. Don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to understand facts. And people pointing out these issues aren't victims of Chinese or Russian propaganda. We're just also not prone to dismissing reality to believe our own local or federal governments propaganda either. Or that of the WEF or WHO either. Just sayin. The crap has been sniffed out. People are asking. Regular people. So sad. 😢 But there is unity in figuring out whatever the truths are. Much more to unravel. 🙏🏾❤️🫂🦋

I was in the Paradise fire, five years ago and another one in 2008. I lost my house and it was PG&E's fault. A wire they owned started the fire, was 99 years old. They are finally paying up, but I have heard from friends how their bill has gone through the roof since it happened. My Advice? Don't settle for their first offer. Appeal it if you have to. They lowballed me because I had two classic cars. But after I appealed, I got another $100k. I'm still waiting for them to pay it though. Another word of advice: Don't get an SBA disaster loan. It will disqualify you from all other programs. Be careful what you buy. There will be programs that will get you a new house, but it will take about 5 years. They are just starting to build them here in Paradise. They will dig and dig until they find a way to disqualify you. So, be careful and don't let them. They judge your needs when they build houses, not when the disaster happened. That's why I say be careful what you buy. Good Luck!

The Governor, the County Board, Mayor, City Board and U.S. Senators and Representatives, should all be only of Hawaiian decent. The U.S. military took over the foreign country called Hawaii and stole its lands, slaughtered its peaceful people. We the People, owe the Native Hawaiians full control sovereignty over their political houses, courts, politicians and laws. OPRAH and her minions, should give their own mansions and lands back to the people, to bless them, and be a good and decent leader to be remembered by, becuuse, she and her Zuckerberg-Baldwin Hollywood elite minions aren't safe there in Hawaii anymore, anyway. They won't be able to walk down the street, get a coffee, dine in any restaurant, or shop some place for a gift, that they'll be safe in, in the future, If she has any brains at all, she'll turn this into something good for her own reputation and status, and donate her house for Hawaiian Native families and Hawaiian Native elderly, handicapped, to live in, to cook meals together as needed, so they can have a large home to hold meetings in, and organize. The other choice is that she and her minions, will need to be looking over their shoulders for the rest of their lives, because, for generations to come, Oprah and her Hollywood elite minions, will be remembered for having chose all the wrong choices. Empires, fall in times like this. Or they are made. Betray the people, and you too, will be betrayed and die in it. That's human history. Ask any author, or historian. They were firebombed by our military for the elites, just like our firebombing of Dresden Germany for no reason at all, melting innocent million civilians in the streets with ten times the fire power of our nuking Hiroshima. We rained firebombing down on that city relentlessly from above, there was no where for them to run to or hide, or to escape. Maui is the same. The daily chemtrails overhead from BillGates' minion U.N. contracts he gets $22,000 taxpayer dollars for per daily flight per city worldwide, ARE LOADED WITH NANO ALUMINUM, STRONTIUM, BARIUM RADIUM, AND POLYMER ACCELERANTS, TO MAKE THESE FIRES EXPLODE INTO FIRE TORNADO WINDSTORMS THAT LEAVE NO ONE ALIVE. JUST LIKE DRESDEN, GERMANY. THAT'S WHY YOU WITNESSED THE FIRE WINDS. The hurricane 700 miles away could not cause fire tornadoes. And our military did it for fun.

I disagree. Josh Green is doing an excellent job at the state level. He is multitasking like crazy, he knows everything that is going on, he is communicating well, he is bringing in and allocating all possible resources. He is newly elected, he has the whole state to govern, and yet he has his priorities straight and Maui is top of the list. There are so many agencies involved. It is the national and local LE that is over-regulating the scene over which they have jurisdiction. You might say it is an ethos of the profession, but Green is responding to the complaints and interfacing with LE to open up the zones to residents.

Even if you do not consider the "conspiracy theories" surrounding the fires, this is gross incompetence at every level by every single institution that the public is expected to trust. That trust has been irreparably violated. Add in the secrecy and what are you left to assume? They cannot concoct a convincing lie for this. No. The fact that Lahaina residents are being treated like this leads me to certainty that this was intentional because they have treated them with so much open disrespect and downright hostility. Very illuminating of how much our government hates us and view us---all of us. They really operate as though they exist for us to serve them. What a gross inversion.

Can you imagine having to live with yourself knowing that you participated in this terrible incident. I mean at some point during the planning process their greed, blinded them to what happens afterwards. We’ve all seen through media or heard stories of people who have done really bad things and then killed themselves afterwards because they could not live with the guilt afterwards. They all recount the same thing during the planning phase their adrenaline and their emotions were all in play but after the fact when they had to witness the consequences of what they did, they could not handle it. They either went insane through unrelenting nightmares both waking and sleeping, turned into substance abusers or took their lives. Certainly when it’s all said and done they will spend eternity in an unimaginable environment of burning unrelenting fire, so how poetic will that be. God is real and so is Heaven and so is the Lake of Fire.

There is now talk of plans to construct a new memorial museum in Maui pertaining to, and highlighting the tragedy in Maui. They definitely need to put the animal statues in the museum. You know the ones that used to be living animals but after the fire they were found still intact but very much dead and stiff like a microwaved statue. A couple of the cars would make a cool museum display like one on the left with an aluminum stream ten feet from the vehicle that kinda tells on itself, with a blue car in the middle where only the black parts of the car melted and then another totally turned to ash car on the right with aluminum turned to powder but the serpentine belt and such still like new. You know just like what was found after the fire. You could also have a display where you show terracotta tiles and porcelain toilets turned to dust with zero explanation as to how an open air fire could possibly accomplish that. Then you could have a display of a melted car with doors closed showing how (but not explaining how) an entire family didn't have time to open a door before the car was instantly turned to melted metal, glass, and ash. Right next to that you could have a cedar tree flat on one side where it was growing against the house. And pointing out how the house is turned totally to white ash like the inside of a kiln but the tree that was growing up against the house for years is totally fine to live another 100 years. But of course no explanation of how that's possible. Just a display to boggle the minds of the curious. Next to that you could have a display of a power companies electrical system and a placard explaining how when wires touch and make a spark IT TRIPS THE BREAKER AND SHUTS POWER OFF COMPLETELY to that section of wire. Should I go on, or do you get the point?

Could this be why? eminent domain noun 1. The power of a government to take private property for public use without the owner's consent, provided just compensation is given. 2. The right of a government over the lands within its jurisdiction. Usually invoked to compel land owners to sell their property in preparation for a major construction project such as a freeway. 3. The right of the state to take private property for public use; the Fifth Amendment that was added to the Constitution of the United States requires that just compensation be made.

This Maui fire, however, was not a wildfire!!! It was started by a downed powerline pole on a street in town around 6 a.m. on the day of the fire, and it was promptly extinguished by the Fire Department. Three hours later, at 9 a.m., a fire was reported at the same location; it was the same fire that had started at 6 a.m., which the fire brigade had not completely extinguished. However, the 9am fire was not put out by the FD because of a lack of water (the fire location was adjacent to the sea, which is full of water, of course). The 9am fire lasted for hours before spreading to the town center at around 3:30pm. The Fire Department blamed the shortage of water and said there was little they could do, but some residents used garden hoses to put out the small ember fires on their properties. That 9 a.m. fire could have been easily entirely extinguished if the fire crew had gotten water from the nearby seashore!!! Furthermore, there were full swimming pools everywhere throughout Lahaina, there was always at least one full pool close by, as evidenced by drone videos taken after the fire. This fire was set on purpose and allowed to burn down the entire town. The alibi of lacking water is ridiculous.

@@JonathanPetramala Wildfires can't do that to cars & leave vegetation intact tho... Can you direct me to this definition, dictionaries have been corrupted too. Of course most will push the mainstream narrative. I looked it up & the 1st definition said, formerly used in WARf@re...

@@Kat-I-am3333 noun- a large destructive fire that spreads quickly over woodland or brush. Also, have you ever tried to start a fire with green wood? Trees are living things with a lot of moisture and fires don’t burn equally hot in a straight line.

@@Kat-I-am3333 often embers get in through eaves of roofs, attic ventilation, gutters, ect…that’s why you have spot fires well ahead of any main line of flames.

There is one thing I'm missing here as a long time resident of Hawaii Island and that is giving any credit to Darryl Oliveira for trying to turn things around. Maui is lucky to have him. (for those who don't have a clue about any of this: Darryl was our Civil Defense Administrator (I live in Hilo) until he retired. He didn't get to (may have been dragged to, but being Darryl may just have volunteered to step in) Maui until after the fires.
