OMG. When you got to the part about the Scottish being shipped to West Indies I perked up. I was told one of my relatives an Elliott was refusing to give up his land and his Tartan but eventually got shipped to Jamaica. I am a Grandson of an Elliott. I also heard that the Armstrong's were the last of the hold outs. We are alive and the family is very large. We are in England. America, and Jamaica. I just ordered my DNA test for the first time from Ancestry and I cannot wait. Long Live the Elliott clan.

23andme and familytreedna are my 2 favorites that I've used (besides the private population geneticists I've sent my DNA to). EDIT: Gedmatch is a must-have!

I have traced my mother's mother's ancestors back to the year 1604, and my father's mother's ancestors back to the year 1712; but I have almost nothing on my grandfathers' sides. The Y DNA test would shed some light on one of them; as to the maternal side I would have to test, an uncle, right? Thanx for sharing the lecture.

I noticed ISOGG was yahoo, is it safe? I've done ancestry.com. I think 23andme me will be next for the health study? Familytree next because I'll have to wait to add it with the ancestry.com because I did it 12/00/16 and something to do with their new chip. Why does familytree swab and the others spit? Lastly I have a half brother I hope will contact me(Japanese)thank you for the information.

+DNA and Family Tree Research is there a way to check which haplogroup i am in. the company i got my Raw DSY Markers did not inform me of Haplotype.

Google "haplogroup predictor". There are several programmes that might be able to help. Cheers, M
