It's already a fact that India and Mauritius have a time tested agreement, bond and relationship, as mentioned in this report. The media in Mauritius has known this since a long time. Still, it is the government that decides, and many different governments all had strong relationships with Bharat due to our cultural heritage. Of course China will try anything but unlike other debt trapped countries, Mauritius has a robust and strong economy. Also, only Bharat invited us for the G20, nobody else did. We are honoured and for that will always have our support.

India is the original motherland of Indians of Mauritius. In spite of independence the majority ethnic group, the Hindus, have a deep-seated emotional attachment with their original motherland. The majority ethnic group of Mauritius feel safer with an Indian in this post than a Mauritian, whatever his ethnic origin, as he can be bought.
