It was much easier to get away with it back then because of signals being analog also I think the statue of limitation for hijacking a broadcast is around seven years or at least back then it was so in the 90s everyone involved with it could have revealed that they did it and they couldn't be arrested the only thing that probably would have happened is being sued by the two stations they hijacked and while I do wish they would reveal themselves at the same time them keeping the mystery alive for so long is why it's the most famous broadcast hijack of all time

Given that he was singing the "Clutch Cargo" theme right before, and "Seeing the X" refers to the last episode of the show. The Wikipedia page on this incident mentions this as well. Regardless, This video is awesome. It's fun to see what people could do back when televisions had such limited technology, that they were child's play to mess around with.
