I have a bit of a rant on that subject, far too long for a comment, but I'll say that in general this culture in the industry where content creators get games so early that by the time it comes out everything about it is is already known, to me that stinks a bit. It's even worse when it comes to wiki and guides, those guys get early codes too so by the time a game comes out you already have the entire map laid out with all the locations of the best weapons, and even stuff like tier lists for the best builds... that's on day 1. There's 0 communal discovery now thanks to early copies to the privileged few and the incentives in place to get "content" out as fast as possible.

I get the environment and art direction is cool but why do people like this game so much, from what I gather there is very limited story telling and you wander around fighting deformed things and then bigger deformed demonic looking things that are the boss battles and the game is known for its difficulty, the combat is hit dodge roll repeat and you have some magic abilities, there are no mini games or anything, just fighting and the vibe of the game is dark and dreary, to me it sounds pretty mid aside from the art direction.

I have a high level build for every stat combination in Elden Ring. Strength, Dex, Quality, Int, Faith, Arcane, and Golden. So you might say I liked the game a lot, can't wait for the DLC. Don't get me wrong I know some people bounced off Elden Ring because it wasn't a more linear Sekiro or Blood Borne experience, but quite frankly I love those games too.

Thank you Max, very cool. I'd just like to say the footage that starts around 8:15 appears to be some echo of Leyndell architecture, or past version of the city itself. Far more importantly, the pool later in that footage is golden, very much akin to the sap that seals the various houses in Leyndell _(presumably to protect them from the ash that's buried the city, though that's purely an in universe guess. thematically/out of universe, it could be a reference to Passover)_ which seems to imply we will get some detail on that tiny environment dressing that got my imagination racing two years ago. In other words, WE HAVE SAP LORE! I look forward to even more revelations on Leyndell's urban planning when I get to play the DLC myself :)

Do rennala then carian Manor to get some levels, shouldn't be too hard if you aren't using a magic weapon, don't be ashamed to look up where some lightning incantations are although I don't think they are all too common until later in the game so just stick with whatever incantations you can find for now

I really wanted a throwable spear that wasn’t just an ash of war that was only suited for occult if I remember correctly from base game so that’s cool! Also that red/blue attire was cut from base game so cool to see it back! I’d say this expansion will be a good size map but more importantly (just like past souls expansions) is the quality! i think the new shard mechanic this dlc introduced is why he was finding it's difficulty similar to malakeths. he said he stuck to one area so he was basically weaker than intended, like going straight to morgot in stormveil. its doable but feels pretty brutal without doing more damage or more levels. interviews said they didn't make any bosses as hard as Melania

One of the other reasons the DLC might not his as hard is because the base game is done so well already, BB's base game in comparison had weak boss lineups vs Ludwig/Kos/Maria so it looked double as great

Agree. I think most people forget how weak Bloodborne's main boss lineup was prior to the DLC. It is way below DS3, Sekiro and ER in terms of boss quality. Truly, I think only Gascoigne really stood out for me in the base game. The DLC raised it from an 8.5 to a 10 for me.

THIS 1000% This is why I kept telling people under many comments (I’m not sure if you’ve seen me before but I’ve seen you before) that the DLC won’t have this big departure in quality compared to base game like how it was with DS3 & BB, even though there’s still new more fundamental content like 8 new weapons types that will dramatically change your gameplay style plus the new leveling system that only applies to DLC areas & the map will be more interconnected & seamless between each area than the base game. So I do not know why some expected something like that when the base game Elden Ring already rivals & beats Bloodborne & all of Dark Souls with all their DLCs.
