Mechanical engineering student, been working on cars my entire life, currently living with my aunt and uncle who are retired automotive engineers while I'm at school. That is one of the best simplified explanations of bearings and oil I've ever heard. Not something many people talk about, and something a lot of people get wrong. High mileage engines, if maintained correctly, should use the same oil they used when new because the bearings will be the same size and shape they were when new. The temperatures, pressures, and clearances are the same.

Oh, how utterly delightful to see another self-proclaimed "Mechanical engineering student" making an entrance into our discourse. Isn't it just the pinnacle of humility when one feels the need to preface their impending observations with their academic credentials? And, to no one's surprise, the ensuing commentary is dressed in the most rudimentary and idealized perspective, reminiscent of those halcyon days of academic theory. One could only yearn for the simplistic, untainted world these students seem to inhabit, devoid of the complexities that reality so generously provides.

it missing isn't really causing anything as long as the wing isn't there. the bigger issue is the carbon splitter/plate pulling away from the bottom of the car. they're likely going to have come up with a better way to strengthen it and smooth out the transition from the bumper to the splitter so it's not trying to rip it off the car. now if they were doing track stuff, 100% the window needs to be there because it's effecting the air hitting the wing.

@@1216jimmyz you're so, SO wrong. It VERY much matters. You've got a giant opening where the air is expecting a surface, so that creates incredible amounts of turbulence that will make the rear end hop all over the place. The wing won't be as effective, either. Rob isn't concerned about it not because it doesn't matter, but because the car simply isn't built up to a point yet where it matters more than having a bulletproof engine.

I was thinking about that recently. Didn't he say the 12-Rotor ain't much bigger than a V8, or atleast got the same mounting pattern as some chevrolet V8? The C8 should have enough room for that, surely.

The ability to shear that key, is insane! Just think the stress on key that also had to make it past the taper fit. This is awesome stuff!

When they have enough content to post the next video. They are currently designing parts for it, not super exciting on video for most people to just watch CAD design being done. It needs an intake, exhaust system and probably everything else externally. The engine was originally designed for a boat and ran with a carburetor. Putting it in a car and running EFI requires a load of new parts that all have to be custom made from the ground up.

I love watching your content. I've been watching since back around the time you brought out project Lambo. I see shit you do that most of us dream about doing. Best part is, no matter how much work you put into the car, you WON'T stop until it's either perfect, or exactly what you want. And if you get something to that point, and then something better comes out, you're not afraid to tear it all apart just to redo it again.. Love the passion brother!

Thanks for the extra explanations that always make your videos so interesting. It's a pity it let go when you were well on the way to the 200+mph, but I am sure you will build it back better.
