Yes, there are lots of reasons, for example you want to monitor misfire data or monitor sensor data. It will not damage the vehicle computer.

Nice, make sure you do the update and it includes a year of updates so mark your calender for when your update will expire so you can update on that date. You can still use it without purchasing updates, that's how I've been using without a problem. Maybe in 3 years if I'm working a 2021 model year it may cause a little issue. I hope this helps.

Can you please tell me how exactly you update that Blue Tooth device? I know it has a port for a wire, but where is it connected to? Is the download in line with the device itself, meaning that any download happens to the Blue Tooth device and the tablet at the same time?

Be connected to a vehicle via the obd2 port and near WiFi and click on update. If there is a vci update the unit should pickup on it.

Great question, no scan tool can tell what you need to do. Just an idea of what the issue could be and it’s up to you verify. If such a scan tool existed then all techs and mechanics would be pretty much out of a job.

@RANDOMFIX I have a 2010 INFINITI g37 and I've had this (p0300-code) for over 4 months now and I just got my car back from the dealership with no luck😔 with all cylinders misfire count of 25... 1. Spark plugs (new) 2. Coil packs (new) 3. Injectors (good) 4. Cylinder leak down test (ggod) 5. Fuel pump test (good) 6. 02 sensors (new) 7. Fuel rail (good) 8. PIN FIN test on Injector harness (good) 9. Throttle bodies (good) 10. Relearn Procedure 11. MAF SENSOR (good) 12. All new gaskets and hoses 13. Fuel pump (new) And this was all done at the Infiniti dealership with no fix. And the dealership was the 5th shop that couldn't figure out this problem 🤔... So, now I feel like I have to take things into my own hands seeing that these so-called professionals couldn't solve this issue, now I have to do the footwork... Oh, and the dealership said they contacted INFINITI directly and they said they've not seen this issue before smh... I'm stuck not knowing who to trust now and I've waste lots and lots of money just to find myself in the same position smh... So any help from you and anyone reading this would be of great help... I think you made better getting the thinkcar mini if you have that many cars and have good use for the tool. The 28 functions are included in the mini ( I don't know why they car call it the mini and this is better than the plus?) And you can unlock bi directional (ish) functions. James, great questions and I don't as my updates haven't expired yet. on my previous Autel the update was about 1/3 the cost so I never updated it, the way I look at it is why to pay $200 for an update when in three years the same device but the new model for cheaper. I don't normally work on vehicles unless they are 3 years old and because of the factory warranty in effect. If I can get 3 years use I'm happy. _Randomfix

Hi Jose, with my previous experience these Autel scan tool comes with one year of updates, but will still work on the supported vehicles up to that date. Does that make sense? And you can always use global obd2 on the scan tool and the special features programming features will always work. It's not like a subscription-based business model where you hanging. Besides 99% of the times, new cars have a 3 year / 36k miles warranty so you are guaranteed to 4 solid years of use. Please let me know if you have any additional questions and it's a great scan tool.

Mason, Great question, you do not need to connect the VCI to the car for updates. Just is the USB that included ( I think its a micro USB type A )and power up the scan tool, then plug the USB cable from the VCI to the scan tools USB port for power. The update for the VCI is pretty fast. _RandomFix

That scanner is limited I paid about $700 and I'am disapointed because I could't relearn a crankshaft sensor for a Honda Accord 08 then I bought a Foxwell 605Gt it does everything for a cheap price and is so muxh better than Autel 808K st also. the Autel procesor is too slow you have too pay alot of money to Autel for a faster one.I'am happy with Foxwell Scanner.
