In case you forgot, Plankton tries to get run over by a bus and Mr. Krabs laughs at the idea of it calling him a mess after taunting him with his fear of whales (and yet the episode is supposed to make you side with Mr. Krabs in the end), and then Squidward takes rope and makes it look like he wants to unalive himself saying “I can’t seem to be happy. Maybe this will help” only to find it’s a bird cage.

Well i dont really agree, i feel like them portraying a childhood star to go in someones house and look into the underwear of a woman, is kind of not what you want your children‘s „idol“ to do, especially in that context, it seems to be a cool thing you do with your friends, especially cause its a build up,of the whole episode thats the thing the main characters really want to do at the end, before they only did stuff that made them upset, i can totally understand the reason for the complaints from the parents.

bro, i loved this episode, i remember it vividly. I know i have a few og dvd copies somewhere, so I'm hoping its on one of them. i think its kinda stupid that parents got upset about this one specifically because a handful of kids shows have adult jokes in them, hidden or not. they may as well ban the episode where spongebob blows the balloon suspiciously. And the whole mid-life crisis thing is a good lesson for kids in my opinion because at some point or another they well deal with it themselves in their own lives.

I saw this episode when i was little. I thought the panty raid was funny. I didnt think anything sexual and it didn't make me think anything other than "oh that spongebob is so whacky" and thats exactly what it was supposed to do. Make you think they're whacky. Thats what the show is (was) just a whacky cartoon with whacky antics. It would have been little different to me as a kid if they raided some random womans house and had the cops called on them because I WAS A KID AND NOT THINKING SEXUALLY. That's just how it is. I get maybe parents might be uncomfortable, but if you've raised them right and shielded them from the correct things, this episode will have no precedent in their lives.

But their reason was stupid, because the panty raid scene wasn't supposed to be taken in a sexual way, it was supposed to be taken as a "we wanna break the rules and be bad" way. It's basically like they were taking candy from the candy store but the writers wanted to be more creative and thought "panty raid but not for sexual reasons". I think there's other stuff from Nickelodeon that was 1000 times worse than that panty raid scene in SpongeBob. iCarly and Ren & Stimpy deserve to be banned, not this!
