One of my favorite knives. out of the box the action was a bit rough and it had hardly any edge (they polished it to death). After a tear down, clean, and someslight polishing on a couple areas the action is buttery smooth. Sharpening was a real shocker. It's been a long long time since I sharpened a knife that as the burr came off it sounded like glass breaking. Beautiful heat treat and hardness on my sample. Some of their best work in my opinion.

The demko sharklock is still a bit lighter and both my ad20.5 are smoother than my vision. My demkos are in k110 pretty decent steel. still love the vison though. The we vision i hated that clip and lock that comes out.

Quick thought on your critique of the pocket clip placement on the vision fg. Might seem counterintuitive but maybe try flipping yours to left hand carry. I just got mine in the mail today and im left hand so i originally was planing on flipping the clip for left handed but I think im going to leave it set up the way it came because the clip for me sits on the pads of my ring and pinky finger and not digging into my palm. Very comfortable.

I'm happy to see you doing so well. I think you've come pretty far since I stumbled upon your channel a couple years ago and it's nice to see you getting recognition and support from the industries. I don't always agree with your take on things, but do always respect your opinion. And greatly appreciate your perspective and enthusiasm for EDC gear. Both of these knives are cool as hell and I would probably never have heard of them. I almost want to buy one or both, even though I have decided to get rid of almost all of my knives and only keep a handful of each folding and fixed, I think I have mentioned before, I love D2. It's supper easy, for me, to keep sharp. I keep a knife on me always and use them constantly. And I am not the worlds best sharpener. It's important for me to be able to touch up an edge without much effort or some expensive system that takes up space in a shop. And D2 does that for me and was my favorite until I discovered M390. I carried the Steel Will modus in D2 daily for about a year. And when I learned about M390 and that they made my favorite knife in it, I had to upgrade the modus. I've been so happy with the steel will modus in D2 and M390 that I carry the 390 in my pocket daily and the D2 is in my "purse" with all me away from home gear. I have not bought a knife 3 or 4 years now. I might try the first one in this video. The blade shape, size and total geometry makes it look very useful for poking, slicing and cutting. Congratulations on the continued growth growth of your channel. I hope it never ends. P,S. Klein just came out with a combination of their I think it wa eleven in one driver and their multi socket driver in one driver. y has them for 40 bucks. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4G3oYSVaNWSr68

Think the choice of black steel is a sensible choice. If you heat the blade then wipe it in oil or WD40 something like that it's oaks in the metal and gives it a really good protection against rust etc as, well as looking amazing, helping keeping it clean and it doesn't feel oily in anyway.

I love my Sentinel in the silver with black G10, but the detent is a little weak for the flipper deployment. Spidey or thumb flip works great. I'm waiting for the micarta stonewashed version of the FG (come on Civivi!).

I know you've done an edc screwdriver video (which was great) but could you do a follow up with options for 1/4" double sided wiha bits? So far, I've only found a few decent options. The Milwaukee fastback 6 in 1, leatherman adapters, the gerber slim drive, and the Dewalt 3 in 1 impact ready bit holder (DWA3HLDFT). I was wondering if you've found anything else in your encounters. Thanks.
@JC_1095 Жыл бұрын
I forgot to mention the victorinox L shaped bit wrench, but its retention system is pretty flimsy and unreliable unfortunately. It could have been my favorite for how simple and compact it is.
@maxlvledc Жыл бұрын
The slim drive works with the wiha double bits??? Didn't realize this.
@JC_1095 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it was basically the main reason I bought it. The retention with the magnet is pretty nice and secure. Kind of like the leatherman ratchet. Have you come across any other options? I'm surprised it isn't more common to find.

That lock sticks out, and just pulling on it releases it, so if for whatever reason you pull on the knife (whether cutting, fighting, whatever) you could release the lock accidentally.. Seems like a terrible idea
@TheIronwil Жыл бұрын
That doesn’t happen. I get your concern. The lock bar’s location gave me pause at first. I’m not going to say it’s impossible to disengage the lock accidentally, but it’s pretty close. The spring tension is more than sufficient to stop it from popping open with light pressure. It also fits against the soft part of your palm, making it very unlikely you’ll ever disengage it that way. I’ve fidgeted and used this knife quite a bit, and have had no issues.
@xrbperformance4290 Жыл бұрын
@@TheIronwil I understand, but I dont really care if its safe at "light pressure", I dont want it to pop open at any pressure, specially in hard circumstances in which you also wont have time to make sure its "fitting against the soft part of your palm".. I think you've just convinced me even more that this is a terrible design
@TheIronwil Жыл бұрын
@@xrbperformance4290 Maybe I expressed it badly. The soft pad of your palm at the top would have to apply a ton of pressure to even risk disengaging the lock. I get what you're saying, but I think this one is solid. Maybe someone will publish tests that demonstrate how much pressure and what angle of pressure it would take to disengage the lock accidentally. I'd trust this knife for medium-duty piercing tasks. For heavy duty I trust only the strongest folders or fixed blades. I've used the Vision FG for EDC for a month or so now, and I've never had a problem. Not that that guarantees anything, but I'm happy with it.
@barrymcockener220911 ай бұрын
The same can and does happen with liner and frame locks. If you're looking for a sure thing you have to carry fixed.
@cody307811 ай бұрын
You’re limited to fixed blade only then. There’s no locking mechanism that couldn’t disengage accidentally in some theoretical way. But to disengage the blade of this mechanism you need to apply a force in the opposite direction that the squeezing pressure applied by your hand is being applied. So, this seems safer than any other locking mechanism I’m aware of.

Button locks are not good for self defense right?
@maxlvledc Жыл бұрын
umm...it has less to do with the lock time and more to do with deployment. If your serious about Self defense make sure it DOES NOT have a deep carry clip, has lots of grip, and has a wave opening mechanism.
@rodrigoruiz976 Жыл бұрын
@@maxlvledc thank you! Though why not a deep carry clip? And as for the button lock, I was thinking more of it unlocking accidentally, or isn’t that an issue? As for the wave feature, it wouldn’t work if clipped to the side of my pants (instead of the pocket).
@maxlvledc Жыл бұрын
@rodrigoruiz976 deep carry clips make the blade sit farther into the pocket, so what happens is you have to adjust your grip after pulling it out.
