May 2022 Install: Archinstall Script Take 1

The new Archinstall script is available in the May 2022 ISO. In this video I am going to do a standard install with the btrfs file system. In future videos, I am going to explore more in depth the options offered by this newly refreshed installer.
Correction: VIM is also installed by default

I watched a video of yours on how to setup a secondary drive as a home partition. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that archinstall's best effort did that automatically when I selected 2 drives and correctly used the SSD for boot and the HDD for home.

Ermanno, I sent you a tweet with a link to my github. I just installed Arch with the built in archinstall. I was able to edit the disk layout as I installed. I was able to change the partition sizes and the btrfs subvolumes. Then I saved the configs. At the end of the install, I was able to copy them over to the installed system and put them on my github. I then tried another install using those configs. Supposedly, you can just point archinstall to the URL and it should run them, but I never could get it to find them. However, I was able to clone them down to the install and use them again. Now, that I know that works, I can easily edit the packages to install. There is a place for that in the config. It also supports running a script as well, so I think it should be possible to make it clone paru and grab anything you want from the AUR, start services, etc.

There is an "encrypted" option in the final install script generated but i dont recall seeing an option for that.

The script generally worked for me, but it set the locale to US, even though I had set my language, timezone and keyboard to UK. I had to manually edit the /etc/locale.conf file.

Hey, can you do an install video of Debian encrypted (BIOS + UEFI) on a flash drive? Your arch install is excellent, but I don't think that a rolling release distro is well suited for being an occasional use on a flash drive. If you could, thank you!

I tried it myself today and i have 3 problems, first is that the select partitions yourself option that you didn't select is kinda broken and wiped all my drive without telling it to (waiting for the special vid), second is that the user is not in the suduors file so I can't use sudo, i can only login to root and work from there,third is that selecting mutilib repo also selects multilib-testing which i didn't select nor its in the installer... Anyways, the installer is now MUCH better but they should fix the vroken things!!! Thanks for the review, XeroLinux Team guy here!

Arch Install question: Can we use both(GNOME and KDE, with GDM)at the same time? And select which one to boot in from the GDM login screen? And also can we use both WAYLAND and XORG at the same time alongside this? I mean when i choose GNOME from GDM it should use WAYLAND and when i choose KDE it should use XORG?

Hey EF, quick question. I am curious to understand how did you install arch on the laptop using SSH using another computer? this got me interested since the Linux operating system is not even installed on the computer, so how the ssh daemon is even running? If its a Virtual environment I can understand? Please let me know on this. 😀

SSH is already built in. Once you set the password, you can login and do the setup 😊

I have found the new version of archinstall to be a buggy mess. It works great when picking default options but as soon as change those options it will crash or fail to install correctly.
