Reading a graphic novel in Spanish totally counts, congrats! I know I'm not great at reading novels in Japanese - there are so many adverbs and adjectives that are never used in real life, I get frustrated that I'm learning words that I can't say out loud 😆 The half Japanese/half Dutch man teaching western medicine in Ooku sounds fascinating!

You're doing so well with your Spanish learning, it's really impressive to see.

I was watching Ava and her fluffy tail while you were talking about Heartstopper, I didn't hear anything you said, but then she disappeared and you said "Extremely cute!" :D ^_^ I agree about Nettle & Bone starting very slow, it really started when the chicken joined the party. I didn't dislike it, but I like her self-pub stuff more :)

Everything's better when the demon-possessed chicken shows up! :-D I know everyone really watches to see Ava and her fluffy butt jump around in the background.

THANK YOU for not liking A Spindle Splintered! Everyone loved it and after I read it, I kind of questioned their taste 😂

Great wrap up Rachel! I really liked 👍 Station Eleven so good to hear your review of Sea of Tranquility since it's on my list of books 📚 to buy. I'll give it a try! Enjoying 'Attack Surface' by Cory Doctorow right now. 👍Funny.😝

I hope to get to Attack Surface! I have the audiobook, and I loved the first two books (though they terrified me).

I listened to Fevered Star while I was rewatching The Expanse tv series and realized that Narapa is voiced by Agent Drummer!

Yay for reading in Spanish!!!😆 If you ever want to try a novel together, I'm game, if also a lot less skilled than you in Spanish. 😁 I've never heard of Across a Field of Starlight, but it sounds lovely and my library has it, so I've put it on hold. I seriously can't get enough of graphic novels this year.

The novel I will probably try to read later this is La luna negra from Selento Books. I only have two other Spanish books in my collection and I kinda don't care about them anymore (The Hobbit and the first Narnia novel). Selection is so limited here!

@@Kalanadi It doesn't look like my library has La Luna Negra, and looking at it on Goodreads, it seems a bit violent, so I'll skip that one! 😂 Good luck with reading it, though!!

Nettle and Bone reminded me of a darker Stardust (movie version) and I loved it for that but yea I think the dark fairy tale genre is why I really liked it in addition to the romance parts that I am excited to explore in her other works

Sorry your reading month wasn’t better. Nettle & Bone didn’t work for me. I DNFED it at 45% despite liking fairytales and retellings. I was very frustrated with the main character being so passive and coming across as a teenager instead of the 30 year old she was supposed to be. I really enjoyed Fevered Star too and felt the same about Narampa. I’m definitely in the series for the characters and am not too concerned about the plot progress.

I agree that the main character of Nettle & Bone came across as very young and much more naive than I expected. I wish we'd seen her more in the element she was comfortable and experienced in (which was decidedly not dangerous quest situations - but she liked textiles - and I wanted to know about that!).
