Thanks for posting this. I can be a bit verbose and while the lecture stuff might be helpful for understanding, It's not lost on me for the folks that just need a quick refresher or just need a fast "where is that command again" kind of tutorial. I'll aim to produce these in the future as well.

It's funny where life takes you and what pulls you in different directions. I hope you enjoy the new branding ha! I'm excited to push this brand more into a public space and build something with it. Your comment meant a lot to me as I leave PSYCHOPOMP behind or at least shelve it for now. I still like it but Tugboat just felt better for now. More approachable and thematically appropriate for the different things I wanna do. I really appreciated your comment. Anyway, with respect to this channel, expect more tutorials now that I've been able to settle a few life things.

@@TugboatTutorials Oh I understand completely. My account is a brand on hold while I develop my others, and it was originally a replacement for a Tshirt brand I was running in another state ha. For creatives, gotta follow the inspiration. Sometimes it just evaporates from a project. I'll definitely check out your new stuff too!

Great tutorial, would you kindly be able to make one using camera projection as I have a lot of trouble with the final out of it not matching up. Work in the viewport 2.0 not so well in Arnold

I should clarify. Maya is a very dense program. I've been using it since 2006 and I still learn new things all the time. Are you just looking for an overview of the program or something more task related, like modeling or surfacing?

Hi, very interesting video, I have a problem when applying the material. The only difference is that im using this method with a decal (Parking station lines), Ive used the same nodes as u shown in the video but when I start the IPR the material is ivisible, the mesh disappears or its ivisible im not sure, do know if theres any solution or the method does not apply to the decals ?

Decals are very tricky. I'm planning on building a maya decal system as well. Something a bit easier to use. There are some good plugins out there that do some similar stuff. I'll try to make a tutorial to cover that. The goal would be to make something that operates as nicely as they do in Unreal or Unity. They should operate like planar projections on top of existing materials. Unfortunately the best way I can think of to do that would be to do an actual geo plane wrap around an object. Literally projecting a plane in a given direction. You'd only need to make sure the plane has enough subdivisions to smoothly wrap around a surface.

I suspect it is easier to have a blender opened on the second display, to do projection or whatever in blender real time, easily and have fun, and then bake it and import to Maya. Just in order to save time and nerves. But anyway, thank you for tutorial. I hate Maya, but sometimes have to deal with it.
