All of your video topics are the exact thoughts I’ve been having recently!! Been having to do a lot of work on my attention span / not constantly entertaining myself etc. Being bored gives us a lot and it’s crazy that I have to force myself to do it now. Thanks for your videos!!

Damn bro, I don't know how to describe it, but I genuinely feel like I started finding your videos and started hearing what you have to say at exactly the right time in my life, and at a very critical point too. Appreciate you man

Have you tried listening to music that has no words? Video game soundtracks, movie scores, classical, EDM... many people find it to be a way to enjoy music while still being able to focus. I think you're right about the importance of being mindful about the music you consume, and I think you can apply that more broadly: be conscientious about the ways you pass time and distract yourself.

I absolutely love classical music and started listening a year ago for this exact reason. And I can tell you not only has it improved my active listening skills, made me appreciate other forms of art more, made me more curious (because a classical piece can be extremely boring on first listen but can become a favorite if given more attention) and it is one of the few things that can put me in a full body exctacy. Hard to describe but there is no other music and very few things that can give me that feeling. Besides that it is one of the few things that made me cry and can purge me of repressed emotions. I had not cried since I was 17 years old and I'm 24 now!!!

Since you already believe in God and read the Bible the best way would be when you wake up to mentally connect with God by just simply saying:”Dear God I want to connect with you now and follow your plan for today”

Thing about addictions is you can’t just stop, you have to replace them. Gotta find a hobby or an activity that makes you feel good doing it. Thank you for making these videos man. Normally my youtube is full of gaming. But seeing you (someone who is older than me and is working) every now and then really makes me think and try to change couple of things in my life. And also I have a question: I don’t remember what you literally said but you something like “if you can’t stop doing that thing and feel that you need it you know you’re addicted.” So I also listened to music a lot cuz I love it. But at some point just listening didn’t feel satisfying or beneficial at all. So I thought “do I stop listening or what?” I actually started learning guitar since I love it the most. And everyday practicing 1-2 hours feels so much better. Recently one of the string broke and I felt so bad till I replaced it cuz I was so much used to it that it felt like I couldn’t do without it. So I don’t think this is a drug or addicting, at least not in a bad way. But maybe like thirst for learning or something idk. I would like to know what other people’s thoughts are about this.

I don’t think that’s a bad addiction, I think it’s a great thing man. What I realized when I quit YT is that my brain just wants to find something to do. If we keep quitting stuff, then we’ll drive our self crazy cause what are we going to do in our everyday life? We gotta ask ourselves, why do I want to quit this? Is it hindering my life or does it enhance it? Ps: as a drummer, I want a guitar player so keep practicing

I started listening to music on my ipod and physical media (cassettes, vinyl, minidisc, cds, etc.) and i found that it reduced my time listening to music and when i did it felt more purposeful, its not just popping on my airpods and selecting a playlist, i have to select a physical album and listen to it, i find that this approach makes you appreciate music more while also not listening to it as much. each piece in your collection is special and required forethought before acquiring rather than on streaming where you press a single button and it’s added to your library. Another thing that sucks about streaming is they can just take shit down or upload a new version of a song and you can’t do anything about it whereas when you own it (whether physical or as an mp3) nobody can do anything to it except you.

This is the third video that I've watched on your channel. I didn't look for it but YTB recommended it to me. You talked about your faith so bravely in this video, respect bro 👍🏼 I'm a Christian myself, and I only listened to Christian Music for all of my life. So yeah, I agree when you said that you won't stop listening to music, but will "wisely listen" 💪🏼 God Bless you, bro ✌🏼

hey bro i just wanted to tell you that people with ADHD/ADD have dopamine deficit in their brain so they are more likely to be addicted to things. I have ADD, and apart from the need to quit social media, I can see some other similarities to you and me. Especially, i can really relate to that feeling when you said "my mind went to this productive and very imaginary state; my imagination was just going crazy and I was able to just think and flourish the entire morning". People with adhd are known to be more creative than other people. For me, when i feel that imaginary state, my mind is making some really creative thoughts, constantly. So I thought that maybe you have it too (adhd/add). Maybe you don't. But please check it out!

Music always goes with the current trends. It's now content and wants your attention the same way any social media platform. Another thing I realised is that you can't quit something, but you need to replace it. Because you can't add or remove time in a day, you can only change things out from you day. (But big tech puts so much money into research how to invade this time, that it's understandable that so many people are content/noise addicted.)

As far as music goes, I completely feel ya there and agree that we need to be careful and wise on our music choice and what we spend our time listening to. My two favorite artists right now are Owl City and Rod Wave, as crazy as that sounds, because those two are absolutely nothing alike. It's about the vibe and the message. I've thankfully never in my life been drawn to junkie music. Thanks for making this video and talking about this, as it relates to me a lot

I listen to podcasts and audiobooks constantly. It’s gotten to the point where I have trouble reading a physical book. There’s a book I heard about in the last 1-2 years on the importance of boredom. It’s about how being bored allows the brain to wander, and in that wandering it can become creative. You might get a lot from that book.
